Evaluation of Satellite and Reanalysis Precipitation Products Using GIS for All Basins in Turkey

open access: yesAdvances in Meteorology, 2019
Use of the satellite and reanalysis precipitation products, as supplementary data sources, are steadily rising for hydrometeorological applications, especially in data-sparse areas. However, the accuracy of these data sets is often lacking, especially in

Comparison of Reanalysis Data Sets to Comprehend the Evolution of Tropical Cyclones Over North Indian Ocean

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, 2020
Several reanalysis data sets are being used for understanding the role of environmental factors controlling tropical cyclones (TCs) evolution. Six reanalysis data sets, namely, European Center for Medium‐range Weather Forecast (ECMWF) ERA‐Interim (ERAI ...

Contribution of Climate Change and Grazing on Carbon Dynamics in Central Asian Pasturelands

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
Reducing the uncertainties in carbon balance assessment is essential for better pastureland management in arid areas. Climate forcing data are some of the major uncertainty sources.

Missing Summer Westerly Jet Barotropic Governor Effect Explains Climate Models—Observation Discrepancies in the Indian Monsoon Trends

open access: yesAGU Advances, Volume 7, Issue 3, June 2026.
Abstract The South Asian summer monsoon has exhibited a pronounced Northwest India‐Indo‐Gangetic Plains rainfall dipole since 1999, with northwest India experiencing a 24.6% increase, while rainfall in the Indo‐Gangetic Plain has decreased by 4.4%.

Divergent carbon sequestration pathways in saline-alkali soils: Dual mechanisms of macroaggregate protection and chemoautotrophic compensation mediated by composted fermented straw amendments

open access: yesClimate Smart Agriculture
Soil carbon sequestration mechanisms in saline-alkali ecosystems remain poorly understood, limiting precision management of organic amendments. We investigated composted fermented straw return (CFSR) versus conventional straw incorporation across ...

Water availability trends across water management zones in Uganda

open access: yesAtmospheric Science Letters, 2021
This study assessed trends in gridded (0.25° × 0.25°) Climate Forecast System Reanalysis (CFSR) precipitation, potential evapotranspiration (PET), and precipitation minus PET (PMP) across the four water management zones (WMZs) in Uganda including Kyoga ...

The Role of Tropical Cyclone—Ocean Interactions in Future Changes in Hurricane Katrina

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 9, 16 May 2026.
Abstract Tropical cyclone (TC) intensity and precipitation are projected to increase in the future. However, some projections are based on atmosphere‐only models in which sea surface temperatures are prescribed, whereas projections based on global atmosphere‐ocean coupled models can be subject to long‐term ocean biases.

Subseasonal variabilities of surface soil moisture in reanalysis datasets and CESM simulations

open access: yesAtmospheric and Oceanic Science Letters, 2020
Using surface soil moisture (SM) from ERA-Interim reanalysis and Climate Forecast System Reanalysis (CFSR) data together with simulated results from CESM, the authors evaluated the subseasonal variability of SM and explored its basic features.

Statistical Seasonal Forecasting of Tropical Cyclone Landfalls on East China

open access: yesAtmospheric Science Letters, Volume 27, Issue 5, May 2026.
This study uses two reanalysis datasets (ECMWF and NOAA) to develop a statistical model (SYSU model) for predicting seasonal tropical cyclone landfalls on East China. Based on four key preseason predictors, it proposes the Pacific Decadal Oscillation, Pacific–North American pattern, and Arctic Oscillation could be the possible physical mechanisms.
