Experimental and Numerical Investigations of Bolted CFST Beams–CFST Columns Connections

Iranian Journal of Science and Technology, Transactions of Civil Engineering, 2018
The effectiveness of concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) sections as compression and flexural members has been investigated by many authors. The combined utilization of CFST columns and steel beams has increased in composite building construction in recent years, but combined use of CFST columns and CFST beams is still unexplored.

Long-term experimental behavior of concrete-encased CFST with preload on the inner CFST

Journal of Constructional Steel Research, 2019
Abstract Concrete-encased concrete-filled steel tube members (concrete-encased CFST) are innovative composite structural elements which are having gradually increasing utilization in high-rise buildings and bridge structures. In practice, the inner CFST component is generally erected first and thus subjected to constructional load before the outer ...

Experiments on special-shaped CFST stub columns under axial compression

open access: yesJournal of Constructional Steel Research, 2014
NoThis paper is an attempt to study the behavior of axially loaded concrete filled steel tubular (CFST) stub columns with special-shaped cross-sections, i.e. triangular, fan-shaped, D-shaped, 1/4 circular and semi-circular.

Application of ANN to the design of CFST columns

Structures, 2020
Abstract In this paper, artificial neural network (ANN) is used to predict the ultimate strength of rectangular and circular concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) columns subjected to concentric and eccentric loading. Four comprehensive datasets are compiled and used for developing ANN-based predictive models. Empirical equations are also derived from

Creep performance of concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) columns and applications to a CFST arch bridge

Steel and Composite Structures, 2015
This paper first presents an experimental study of twelve specimens for their creep performance, including nine concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) columns and three plain concrete columns, subjected to three levels of sustained axial loads for 1710 days.

Flexural performance of rectangular CFST members

Thin-Walled Structures, 2014
Abstract This paper presents a finite element analysis (FEA) modeling to study the flexural performance of rectangular concrete filled steel tubular (CFST) members with compact, non-compact or slender element sections. Seventy test results are used to verify the FEA modeling.

FE Parametric study of the Compressive Behavior of CFSTs

2019 8th International Conference on Modeling Simulation and Applied Optimization (ICMSAO), 2019
The aim of this paper is to develop a 3D non-linear finite element model to simulate the behavior of Concrete-Filled Steel Tubes (CFSTs) under compressive loading. The FE model was developed in the commercial software ABAQUS. The proposed FE model was validated by comparing numerical results to their experimental counterparts obtained from previous ...

Study on Seismic Performance of CFST Frame and Truss

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
Concrete filled steel tube (CFST) got a good application in actual project. In order to further the seismic performance of the CFST, experiment was carried on two 1/5 scale models, which included one CFST frame, one CFST truss. Based on the experimental study, load-carrying capacity, stiffness, ductility, hysteretic property, energy dissipation and ...

Finite element simulations of the flexural response of CFSTs

2018 Advances in Science and Engineering Technology International Conferences (ASET), 2018
This paper aims to capture the flexural behavior of CFSTs using a nonlinear 3D finite element model. The finite element model is developed using the commercial software ABAQUS. The results obtained from the FE model are validated using the results of the experimental program that was conducted by the same authors.
