Size and Weight Relationships for the Golden Crab, Chaceon fenneri, and the Red Crab, Chaceon quinquedens, from the Eastern Gulf of Mexico [PDF]

open access: yesGulf Research Reports, 1997
Carapace length, carapace width, and weight relationships are discussed for the golden crab, Chaceon fenneri, and the red crab, Chaceon quinquedens, from the eastern Gulf of Mexico. Males of both species were significantly larger than females in comparisons of means of all measured parameters.

Distribution and Habitat Use of the Golden Crab Chaceon fenneri off Eastern Florida Based on in situ Submersible and ROV Observations and Potential for Impacts to Deep Water Coral/Sponge Habitat [PDF]

open access: yesGulf and Caribbean Research, 2017
This study documents the distribution and habitat preferences of the golden crab, a commercially fished species, in relation to deep-sea coral/sponge ecosystems (DSCEs) at 200-900 m depths off eastern Florida. A total of 386 h of videotapes from 94 submersible and remotely operated vehicle (ROV) dives from 1999 to 2009, covering a total distance of 376

Mitocondrial COI and 16S rDNA sequences support morphological identification and biogeography of deep-sea red crabs of the genus Chaceon (Crustacea, Decapoda, Geryonidae) in the Eastern Central and South Atlantic Ocean. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS One, 2019
The geographical spreading of new fishing activities and the increasingly deeper locations of these activities have shown the worldwide distribution of gerionid crabs and new descriptions of Chaceon taxa.

Occurrence of Chaceon fenneri (Manning & Holthuis) (Crustacea, Brachyura, Geryonidae) in the Northeast of Brazil [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Zoologia, 2001
Chaceon fenneri (Manning & Holthuis, 1984), so far known only from the offshore region of Florida, was collected off the Northeast of Brazil. A discussion on the variation within the species and morphometric data of the specimens examined are also given.

Note on the fisheries and biology of the golden crab (Chaceon fenneri) off the northern coast of Brazil

open access: yesLatin American Journal of Aquatic Research, 2009
The occurrence of golden crabs (Chaceon fenneri) off the northern coast of Brazil was first reported in 2001. Since then, a few companies and boats have exploited this resource. In the state of Ceará, one company has been fishing for these crabs with a single boat since 2003. The production and fishing effort of this company indicated a decrease in the

Physiology of Two Species of Deep-Water Crabs, Chaceon Fenneri and C. Quinquedens: Gill Morphology, and Hemolymph Ionic and Nitrogen Concentrations

open access: yesJournal of Crustacean Biology, 1990
The general physiology of two species of deep-water crabs, Chaceonfenneri and C. quinquedens, found in thermally stable environments at moderate depths, was investigated. Structurefunction relationships of the gills indicate animals that are typical of environments characterized by high and stable salinity.
