Evaluation of the Mechanical and Physical Behaviors of Flax Fiber‐Reinforced Polybutylene Succinate Biodegradable Composites in Packaging Applications

open access: yesSPE Polymers, Volume 6, Issue 3, July 2025.
PBS‐based biodegradable composites were compounded with neat, surface‐modified flax fiber to develop sustainable, water‐repellent, mechanically, and thermally stable bio‐based packaging material. ABSTRACT Applying surface modification routes to natural fibers is a practical option for solving the incompatibility problem in polymeric composites.

CARBOHYDRATE METABOLISM IN CHAETOMIUM GLOBOSUM [PDF]

open access: yesNew Phytologist, 1972
SummaryExtracts of Chaetomium globosum contained an unstable, NAD‐dependent mannitol dehydrogenase, oxidizing mannitol to fructose. The enzyme had a low affinity for its substrates but showed high activity in vitro. Compared to fructose, exogenous mannitol was poorly utilized by the fungus.

Artificial Endosymbiosis of Pedobacter sp. DDGJ Boosts the Growth Potential, Stress Resistance and Productivity of Morchella Mushrooms

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 18, Issue 7, July 2025.
This study introduced Pedobacter sp. DDGJ into morel hyphal cells and determined the effect of artificial endosymbiosis on morel growth, stress resistance and productivity. ABSTRACT True morels are precious edible and medicinal mushrooms. The sustainable development of morel cultivation necessitates urgent breeding programmes to develop improved ...

Experimental methods for studying amyloid cross‐interactions

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 34, Issue 6, June 2025.
Abstract Interactions between amyloid proteins represent the cornerstone of various pathogenic pathways, including prion conversion and co‐development of distinct kinds of systemic amyloidosis. Various experimental methodologies provide insights into the effects of such cross‐interactions on amyloid self‐assembly, which range from acceleration to ...

A Peroxygenase from Chaetomium globosum Catalyzes the Selective Oxygenation of Testosterone [PDF]

open access: yesChemBioChem, 2017
AbstractUnspecific peroxygenases (UPO, EC 1.11.2.1) secreted by fungi open an efficient way to selectively oxyfunctionalize diverse organic substrates, including less‐activated hydrocarbons, by transferring peroxide‐borne oxygen. We investigated a cell‐free approach to incorporate epoxy and hydroxyl functionalities directly into the bulky molecule ...

Commodity risk assessment of Berberis thunbergii plants from the UK

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 23, Issue 6, June 2025.
Abstract The European Commission requested the EFSA Panel on Plant Health to prepare and deliver risk assessments for commodities listed in Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/2019 as ‘high risk plants, plant products and other objects’. Taking into account the available scientific information, including the technical information provided by ...

Identification of Key Active‐Site Positions Controlling the Chemoselectivity of Aspergillus Brasiliensis Unspecific Peroxygenase

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 26, Issue 10, May 27, 2025.
Unspecific peroxygenase (UPO) from Aspergillus brasiliensis AbrUPO catalyzes the aromatic hydroxylation of substituted benzenes. By integrating structural elements from well‐characterized UPOs in AbrUPO variants, position 186 was identified as a critical determinant of enzyme chemoselectivity.

Antifungal activity of Chaetomium globosum transformated with an endochitinase gene, chbi, from Trichoderma viride

open access: yes浙江大学学报. 农业与生命科学版, 2006
In order to find out the roles of endochitinase during biocontrol process in Chaetomium globosum, a 42 kDa endochitinase gene (chbi) cloned from the genomic DNA of Trichoderma viride was transferred to C.
