Onychomycosis Caused byChaetomium globosum [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Dermatology, 2013
Onychomycosis is usually caused by dermatophytes, but some nondermatophytic molds and yeasts are also associated with invasion of nails. The genus Chaetomium is a dematiaceous nondermatophytic mold found in soil and plant debris as a saprophytic fungus. We report the first Korean case of onychomycosis caused by Chaetomium globosum in a 35-year-old male.

Further Observations on the Sporulation of Chaetomium globosum [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of General Microbiology, 1951
SUMMARY: Extracts of a strain of Aspergillus fumigatus stimulate fruiting of Chaetomium globosum, but the factor responsible is not identical with that present in jute extract. Hexose phosphates, although stimulating fruiting, do not account for the activity of the jute extract.

Aspergillus Was the Dominant Genus Found during Diversity Tracking of Potentially Pathogenic Indoor Fungal Isolates

open access: yesPathogens, 2022
Viable airborne pathogenic fungi represent a potential health hazard when exposing vulnerable persons in quantities exceeding their resilience. In this study, 284 indoor fungal isolates from a strain collection of indoor fungi were screened for ...

Growth and mycotoxin production by Chaetomium globosum [PDF]

open access: yesMycopathologia, 2007
Chaetomium globosum, the most common species within this genus, produces chaetoglobosins A and C when cultured on building material. Relatively low levels of these compounds have been shown to be lethal to various tissue culture cell lines. This study had two major objectives: (1) to determine the frequency at which Chaetomium species are isolated in ...

Mycobiota and mycotoxin-producing fungi in southern California: their colonisation and in vitro interactions

open access: yesMycology, 2022
Fungal contamination in water-damaged houses has become a major concern because of their potential health effects. During our survey in 100 water-damaged houses in southern California, we have reported 42 outdoor and 14 indoor fungal species throughout ...

The Effect of a Physical Barrier on Sporulation of Chaetomium globosum [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of General Microbiology, 1956
SUMMARY: Increased production of perithecia by Chaetomium globosum in the neighbourhood of a physical barrier which impedes the growth of the colony is associated with a locally increased concentration in the medium of organic phosphates excreted by the organism, caused by unequal diffusion of these compounds owing to the presence of the barrier.

Transformation of Chaetomium globosum with hygromycin B resistance plasmids pCB1003

open access: yes浙江大学学报. 农业与生命科学版, 2001
Genetic transformation has been achieved by incubating protoplasts from Chaetomium globosum with plasmid PCB1003. The efficiency was 1-2 transformants/μg vector DNA.

SELECTION OF BIOCONTROL AGENTS FOR CONTROL OF ONION WHITE ROT DISEASE [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Plant Production, 2006
Isolation of bioagents was carried out from rhizoplane of healthy onion plants, 70 and 120 days after transplanting from different governorates, i.e. El-Behera; EI- Sharkia; Beni-Swif and El-Menia.

Phylogenetic reassessment of the Chaetomium globosum species complex [PDF]

open access: yesPersoonia - Molecular Phylogeny and Evolution of Fungi, 2016
Chaetomium globosum, the type species of the genus, is ubiquitous, occurring on a wide variety of substrates, in air and in marine environments. This species is recognised as a cellulolytic and/or endophytic fungus. It is also known as a source of secondary metabolites with various biological activities, having great potential in the agricultural ...

Consolidated bioprocess of corn stover to polysaccharide using Chaetomium globosum CGMCC 6882

open access: yesGrain & Oil Science and Technology, 2019
Polysaccharide produced from medicinal endophytic fungus not only has applications in foods, but also exhibits multiple biological activities. In this work, an endophytic fungus Chaetomium globosum CGMCC 6882 could use corn stover to produce a ...
