Dynamics of diffusion controlled chain closure: flexible chain in presence of hydrodynamic interaction

open access: yes, 2011
Based on the Wilemski-Fixman approach (J. Chem. Phys. 60, 866 (1974)) we showed that for a flexible chain in theta solvent hydrodynamic interaction treated with an pre-averaging approximation makes ring closing faster if the chain is not very short. Only

Finite domination and Novikov rings. Iterative approach

open access: yes, 2011
Suppose C is a bounded chain complex of finitely generated free modules over the Laurent polynomial ring L = R[x,1/x]. Then C is R-finitely dominated, ie, homotopy equivalent over R to a bounded chain complex of finitely generated projective R-modules ...

Finite Commutative Chain Rings

open access: yesFinite Fields and Their Applications, 2001
A commutative ring with unit is called a chain ring if all its ideals form a chain under inclusion. All finite chain rings can be obtained in the following way: Let \(p\) be a prime, \(n,r>0\), \(f\in \mathbb{Z}_{p^n}[X]\) a monic polynomial, \(\deg(f)=r\) whose image in \(\mathbb{Z}_p[X]\) is irreducible and let \(\text{GR} (p^n,r): =\mathbb{Z}_{p^n ...

Monopole-antimonopole chains and vortex rings [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2004
We consider static axially symmetric solutions of SU(2) Yang-Mills-Higgs theory. The simplest such solutions represent monopoles, multimonopoles and monopole-antimonopole pairs. In general such solutions are characterized by two integers, the winding number m of their polar angle, and the winding number n of their azimuthal angle.

3-[3-(Pyridin-3-yl)-1,2,4-oxadiazol-5-yl]propanoic acid

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2011
In the title compound, C10H9N3O3, the benzene ring is almost coplanar with the heterocyclic ring, making a dihedral angle of 11.3 (1)°. The plane of the carboxyl group is rotated by 8.4 (2)° with respect to the 1,2,4-

Structure and dynamics of ring polymers: entanglement effects because of solution density and ring topology

open access: yes, 2011
The effects of entanglement in solutions and melts of unknotted ring polymers have been addressed by several theoretical and numerical studies. The system properties have been typically profiled as a function of ring contour length at fixed solution ...

Well-defined side-chain liquid-crystalline polysiloxanes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
A route to well-defined side-chain liquid-crystalline polysiloxanes (ratio of weight-to number-average molar masses Mw/Mn < 1.2 is reported. Anionic ring-opening polymerization of pentamethylvinylcyclotrisiloxane yielded a poly(dimethylsiloxane-co ...

3-Allyl-1-(3-cyanophenylmethylene)-2-methyl-1H-benzoimidazol-3-ium bromide monohydrate

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2008
In the title compound, C19H18N3+·Br−·H2O, the dihedral angle between the allyl group and the imidazole ring is 89.59 (14)°, while the dihedral angle between the cyanophenyl ring and the imidazole ring is 78.72 (7)° ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Effect of Side Chain Functional Groups on the DPPH Radical Scavenging Activity of Bisabolane-Type Phenols

open access: yesAntioxidants, 2019
Methods for improving the antioxidant activity of phenolic compounds have been widely investigated; however, most studies have focused on the structure–activity correlations of substituents on the aromatic rings of catechols or flavonoids.
