Betting on transitivity in probabilistic causal chains
Cognitive Processing, 2017Causal reasoning is crucial to people's decision making in probabilistic environments. It may rely directly on data about covariation between variables (correspondence) or on inferences based on reasonable constraints if larger causal models are constructed based on local relations (coherence).

This concluding chapter begins with unpacking the meanings of the term The Brighton School and then turns to a set of observations on how this study points towards further research on the relevance to early film of the contemporary practices of magic lanternists, especially in relation to subject matter, exhibition modes and trade practices; the ...

Chain Transitive Sets and Shadowing
2017In this chapter, we study relations between the shadowing property of diffeomorphisms on their chain transitive sets and the hyperbolicity of such sets. We prove the following two main results: Let Λ be a closed invariant set of f ∈ Diff1(M).

Transitional choice behavior in concurrent-chain schedules
Behavioural Processes, 2001The choice responses of four pigeons were examined in 20 periods of transition in a concurrent-chain procedure with variable-interval schedules as initial links and fixed delays to reinforcement as terminal links. In some conditions, the delays to reinforcement were different for the two terminal links, and changes in preference were recorded after the

The Weakly Chain Transitive Maps
Advanced Materials Research, 2013Let (X,f) be a compact system. In this note we prove that if f satisfies Lipschitz condition, then f is totally weakly chain transitive if and only if f is weakly chain transitive by introducing the notion of the weak chain transitivity and the totally weak chain transitivity. The note also proves that the set-valued map of f is weakly chain transitive

The topological Markov chain—Transitivity and mixing
Acta Mathematica Sinica, 1993Summary: We discuss the one-sided topological Markov chain and prove the following conditions to be equivalent: 1. topologically strongly mixing, 2. topologically weakly mixing, 3. topological transitivity and the existence of two periods which are co-prime.

Photoinduced Phase Transitions in MX-Chain Compounds
2012One-dimensional (1D) electron system is good arena for the exploration of photoinduced phase transitions (PIPTs). This is because photocarrier generations and/or charge-transfer (CT) excitations by lights can stimulate instabilities inherent to 1D nature of electronic states through strong electron–electron interaction and electron (spin)–lattice ...

Transition Effect Matrices and Quantum Markov Chains
Foundations of Physics, 2008The paper under review is concerned with the analysis of the notion of transition effect matrices, a generalisation of stochastic matrices to quantum-probabilistic context. A transition effect matrix is a (possibly infinite) matrix whose entries are positive contractions on a Hilbert space and whose rows sum to \(I\) in the strong operator topology ...

SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT AND THE ROMANIAN TRANSITION [PDF]
Supply Chain Management (SCM), defined here as the construction of productive systems spanning over organizational borders with suppliers and customers and integrated via human-based and information technology systems to satisfy final customer requirements, is introduced as a key concept to accelerate Romania’s economic transition as it approaches EU ...
