Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Quantum Multibaker Maps: Extreme Quantum Regime
We introduce a family of models for quantum mechanical, one-dimensional random walks, called quantum multibaker maps (QMB). These are Weyl quantizations of the classical multibaker models previously considered by Gaspard, Tasaki and others.

1-Methyl-4-({5-[(4-methylphenyl)sulfanyl]pentyl}sulfanyl)benzene [PDF]
There are two independent molecules in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C19H24S2. In both molecules, the aliphatic segment of the ligand is in an all-trans conformation: the –S–(CH2)5–S–bridging chain is almost planar (r.m.s.

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Dipotassium [N,N '-(propane-1,3-diyl)dioxamato-kappa O-4,N,N ',O ']copper(II) trihydrate: redetermination at 100 K [PDF]
Redetermination of the structure of the title compound, K-2[Cu(C7H6N2O6)]center dot 3H(2)O,at 100 K reveals conformational disorder in the almost planar copper-containing molecular dianions and clarifies the complex hydrogen-bonded network involving the ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Osmotic force resisting chain insertion in a colloidal suspension
We consider the problem of inserting a stiff chain into a colloidal suspension of particles that interact with it through excluded volume forces.

Aluminophosphate molecular sieves comprised of hydrated triple crankshaft chains [PDF]
We report the first synthesis of pure aluminophosphate hydrate H2 (AlPO4-H2) and its structure; AlPO4-H2 is constructed exclusively from a hydrated chain building unit that also builds the 18-ring VPI-5 structure and has one-dimensional channels ...
