Variational theory for a single polyelectrolyte chain
The European Physical Journal B, 1999Variational methods are applied to a single polyelectrolyte chain. The polymer is modeled as a Gaussian chain with screened electrostatic repulsion between all monomers. As a variational Hamiltonian, the most general Gaussian kernel, including the possibility of a classical or mean polymer path, is employed.

Biological variation of immunoglobulin heavy chain-light chain pairs in serum
Clinica Chimica Acta, 2014Assays for immunoglobulin heavy chain-light chain (HLC) pairs called Hevylite® have recently been developed. These assays can be useful in patients with hard to interpret serum protein electrophoresis peaks. Measurement of the biological variation of clinical laboratory tests can help clinicians better interpret laboratory results.Serum samples were ...

Contract strategy in the presence of chain to chain competition
International Journal of Production Research, 2021This paper studies contract strategy for two competing supply chains selling a substitutable product under demand uncertainty. Each supply chain consists of a risk neutral manufacturer and a risk averse retailer.

Variational theory for Lennard-Jones chains
Molecular Physics, 1995The Helmholtz energy and pressure for Lennard-Jones chains are derived using a variational first-order perturbation theory. The reference system, comprising freely jointed tangent hard-sphere chains is solved in the Percus-Yevick approximation. The optimal diameter of segments in the hard-sphere chain reference is determined by minimizing the free ...

A Markov chain model of extrabinomial variation
Biometrika, 1990This paper studies the properties of a {0, 1}-state Markov chain model of extrabinomial variation. If n is even, the Markov chain binomial model is always overdispersed relative to the binomial model with parameters n and p, while if n is odd, it may be over- or underdispersed relative to the binomial model.

A supply chain transparency and sustainability technology appraisal model for blockchain technology
International Journal of Production Research, 2019Blockchain technology is a technology that can effectively support supply chain transparency. An important initial managerial activity is for organisations in supply chains to evaluate and select the most suitable blockchain technology.

Human λ-chain sequence variations and serologic associations
Immunochemistry, 1977Abstract In an examination of 67 human λ-chains, two were found with constant region variatoins of a type not previously noted. One had two substitutions noted for the first tiem, a serine instead of lysine at position 133 and a glutamine for lysien at 190. The other protein had a previously detected glutamic acid instead of lysine ar residue 160 but

Lumbar sympathetic chain: anatomical variation and clinical perspectives.
La Clinica terapeutica, 2016The sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems constitute the autonomic nervous system which controls the entropy of the body and maintain the equilibrium. The sympathetic chain forms a definitive anatomic entity which is quite variable with respect to its position and the number of ganglia.

Anatomical variations of the upper thoracic sympathetic chain
Clinical Anatomy, 2009AbstractThe aim is to clearly delineate the upper thoracic sympathetic chains and neural connections between the chains and ventral rami of the thoracic nerves, and to provide an anatomical foundation for successful upper thoracic sympathicotomy for treating upper essential hyperhidrosis.

Chain-Like Granular Jamming: A Novel Stiffness-Programmable Mechanism for Soft Robotics
Soft Robotics, 2019The ability to regulate the mechanical stiffness in a large range could be extremely important for soft robots to interact with the environment more effectively. In this article, we propose a novel chain-like granular jamming mechanism to achieve a large
