Encyclopedia of 2D β′‐In2Se3 Growth Using Chemical Vapor Deposition: The Effects of Synthesis Parameters Onto Material Quality

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 14, 22 July 2026.
A distinct semi‐confined inner‐tube chemical vapor deposition geometry enables reproducible, large‐area growth of phase‐pure 2D β′‐In2Se3 from InI + Se precursors. Engineering local vapor transport and optimizing precursor delivery and temperature–time conditions yield uniform continuous films.

Catalytic Antioxidant Activity of Acyclic and Macrocyclic Selenides: Insights Into Structure–Activity Relationships and Mechanisms From Kinetic and Computational Studies

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 27, 17 July 2026.
Structure–activity relationships of antioxidant activities of selenides were established by experimental and computational methods. Several structures displayed strong catalytic activity in an NMR‐based assay. Diverse selenides were shown to act as potent catalytic antioxidants.

Thioredoxin Reductase as a Target for Antibacterial Gold Compounds in Burkholderia cenocepacia: Disclosing the Molecular Basis of Enzyme Inhibition

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 13, 14 July 2026.
The molecular basis of thioredoxin reductase inhibition by antibacterial gold(I) compounds is disclosed. X‐ray crystallography and high‐resolution ESI‐MS reveal selective gold coordination to catalytically relevant cysteine residues of Bc‐TrxR, leading to stable protein–gold adducts and disruption of enzyme redox activity.

Expansion of the Metal‐Involving Noncovalent Interaction Repertoire: The Case of Pd(II) and Pt(II) Triel Bonding

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 27, Issue 13, 14 July 2026.
This study reveals that square planar Pd and Pt complexes can act as nucleophiles, forming directional triel bonds with boron‐based acceptors. Using energy decomposition analysis (EDA), quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM), and natural bond orbital (NBO), we demonstrate a transition from dispersion‐driven to dative‐covalent interactions.

Chalcogen⋅⋅⋅π Bonding Catalysis

Angewandte Chemie - International Edition, 2021
AbstractWhile the presence of sulfur⋅⋅⋅π bonding interaction is a general phenomenon in the biological systems, the exploitation of this noncovalent force in a chemical process yet remains elusive. Herein, we describe the concept of chalcogen⋅⋅⋅π bonding catalysis that activates molecules of π systems through the interaction between chalcogen and π ...
