The 125Te Chemical Shift of Diphenyl Ditelluride: Chasing Conformers over a Flat Energy Surface

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
The interest in diphenyl ditelluride (Ph2Te2) is related to its strict analogy to diphenyl diselenide (Ph2Se2), whose capacity to reduce organic peroxides is largely exploited in catalysis and green chemistry.

The Next Frontier in the Study of Noncovalent Bonding: Transition Metals

open access: yesMolecules
As work continues unabated in the study of noncovalent bonding, particularly σ-hole bonds, new challenges have emerged as the participation of transition metals in interactions of this sort is fast becoming appreciated.

Supramolecular Chalcogen‐Bonded Shape Memory Actuators

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie
Abstract Supramolecular liquid crystal elastomers (LCEs) incorporating chalcogen bonds (ChBs) have been synthesized and investigated for shape memory and actuation properties. LCEs featuring strong Se⋯N ChBs (−40 to −43 kJ mol −1 ) exhibit both shape memory effects (SME) and

Catalytic Sulfur‐Atom Transfer Enabled by a Bis(disulfide) Titanium Complex

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
Multi‐electron transformations with titanium are underexplored due to limited access to low‐valent precursors. The four‐electron activation of elemental sulfur by a Ti(IV) complex yields a rare titanium bis(disulfide) complex, enabling the efficient catalytic synthesis of isothiocyanates from isonitriles under mild conditions.

X‐Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy as Useful Technique for the Quantification of Halogen and Chalcogen Bonding Interactions

open access: yesChemistryEurope
This manuscript introduces a novel approach for quantifying the strength of halogen and chalcogen bonding interactions involving heavy elements of groups 17 (Br, I) and 16 (Se, Te).
