Nature of the Interaction of Pyridines with OCS. A Theoretical Investigation

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
Ab initio calculations were carried out to investigate the interaction between para-substituted pyridines (X-C5H4N, X=NH2, CH3, H, CN, NO2) and OCS. Three stable structures of pyridine.OCS complexes were detected at the MP2=full/aug-cc-pVDZ level.

Tetrel, Chalcogen, and Charge-Assisted Hydrogen Bonds in 2-((2-Carboxy-1-(substituted)-2-hydroxyethyl)thio) Pyridin-1-ium Chlorides

open access: yesCrystals, 2017
Reaction of 2-chloro-2-(diethoxymethyl)-3-substitutedoxirane or 1-chloro-1-(substituted) -3,3-diethoxypropan-2-one with pyridine-2-thiol in EtOH at 25 °C yields 3-(diethoxymethyl)-3-hydroxy-2-substituted-2,3-dihydrothiazolo[3,2-a]pyridin-4-ium chlorides,

Chalcogen Bonding Catalysis of a Nitro‐Michael Reaction [PDF]

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, 2019
AbstractChalcogen bonding is the non‐covalent interaction between Lewis acidic chalcogen substituents and Lewis bases. Herein, we present the first application of dicationic tellurium‐based chalcogen bond donors in the nitro‐Michael reaction between trans‐β‐nitrostyrene and indoles.

Intra-/Intermolecular Bifurcated Chalcogen Bonding in Crystal Structure of Thiazole/Thiadiazole Derived Binuclear (Diaminocarbene)PdII Complexes

open access: yesCrystals, 2018
The coupling of cis-[PdCl2(CNXyl)2] (Xyl = 2,6-Me2C6H3) with 4-phenylthiazol-2-amine in molar ratio 2:3 at RT in CH2Cl2 leads to binuclear (diaminocarbene)PdII complex 3c. The complex was characterized by HRESI+-MS, 1H NMR spectroscopy, and its structure

Chalcogen bonding in coordination chemistry

open access: yesCoordination Chemistry Reviews, 2022
The chalcogen bond (ChB) is defined as a noncovalent interaction between the electron density deficient region (so-called as sigma or pi hole) of a covalently bonded chalcogen atom and a nucleophilic (Nu) site in the same (intramolecular) or another (intermolecular) molecular entity: R-Ch center dot center dot center dot Nu [Ch = O, S, Se or Te; R = C,
