Local motifs in GeS$_2$-Ga$_2$S$_3$ glasses [PDF]
The structure of (GeS$_2$)$_{0.75}$(Ga$_2$S$_3$)$_{0.25}$ and (GeS$_2$)$_{0.83}$(Ga$_2$S$_3$)$_{0.17}$ glasses was investigated by Raman scattering, high energy X-ray diffraction and extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) measurements at the Ga

Picosecond high-repetition-rate pulsed laser ablation of dielectrics: the effect of energy accumulation between pulses [PDF]
We report experiments on the ablation of arsenic trisulphide and silicon using high-repetition-rate (megahertz) trains of picosecond pulses. In the case of arsenic trisulphide, the average single pulse fluence at ablation threshold is found to be >100 ...

Unexpected role of metal halides in a chalcogenide glass network
Chalcogenide glasses containing light alkali and Group 11 (Cu, Ag) halides MY (Y = Cl, Br, I) exhibit high ionic conductivity while their heavy alkali counterparts show promising properties for optical applications.

Thin chalcogenide capillaries as efficient waveguides in the mid-IR - THz spectral range
We present chalcogenide glass As2Se3 capillaries as efficient waveguides in the mid-IR and THz spectral ranges. The capillaries are fabricated using a double crucible glass drawing technique. The wall thickness of the glass capillary is properly designed

Electron irradiation induced reduction of the permittivity in chalcogenide glass (As2S3) thin film
We investigate the effect of electron beam irradiation on the dielectric properties of As2S3 Chalcogenide glass. By means of low-loss Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy, we derive the permittivity function, its dispersive relation, and calculate the ...

Chalcogenide glass microsphere laser
Laser action has been demonstrated in chalcogenide glass microsphere. A sub millimeter neodymium-doped gallium lanthanum sulphide glass sphere was pumped at 808 nm with a laser diode and single and multimode laser action demonstrated at wavelengths between 1075 and 1086 nm.
