Sirolimus for Extracranial Arteriovenous Malformations: A Scoping Review of the Evidence in Syndromic and Non‐Syndromic Cases

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are rare, high‐flow, vascular anomalies that can occur either sporadically or as part of a genetic syndrome. AVMs can progress with serious morbidity and even mortality if left unchecked. Sirolimus is an mTOR inhibitor that is effective in low‐flow vascular malformations; however, its role in AVMs is unclear.

Flusser Studies (Chance and Improbability) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This text discusses Flusser’s thinking regarding the ‘technical image’ in relation to a recent artist’s book, Accidental Journey. The book is nominally about the moon and astronomy, and contains images, factual and fictional texts, documents of my own ...

Convex Chance Constrained Model Predictive Control

open access: yes, 2016
We consider the Chance Constrained Model Predictive Control problem for polynomial systems subject to disturbances. In this problem, we aim at finding optimal control input for given disturbed dynamical system to minimize a given cost function subject to

Evaluating the Utility of Paired Tumor and Germline Targeted DNA Sequencing for Pediatric Oncology Patients: A Single Institution Report

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the diagnostic yield and utility of universal paired tumor–normal multigene panel sequencing in newly diagnosed pediatric solid and central nervous system (CNS) tumor patients and to compare the detection of germline pathogenic/likely pathogenic variants (PV/LPVs) against established clinical referral criteria for cancer ...

Preferences of Pediatric Patients and Their Caregivers for Chemotherapy‐Induced Nausea and Vomiting Control Endpoints: A Mixed Methods Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Although not always achieved, complete chemotherapy‐induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) control is the conventional goal of CINV prophylaxis. In this two‐center, mixed‐methods study, we sought to understand the preferences of adolescent patients and family caregivers for CINV control endpoints.

Chance as a subversive element in the 1960s philosophical and aesthetic discourse [PDF]

open access: yesSlovenska Literatura, 2011
The author uses chosen texts (philosophical essays) and films of the 1960s new wave as examples to demonstrate the function of chance serving as a subversive element in the philosophical and aesthetic discourse of the time.

Intorno ad alcuni modi del caso in Darwin a partire dal Doktorarbeit di Wilhelm Windelband [PDF]

open access: yesS&F_scienzaefilosofia.it, 2022
On some models of chance in Darwin starting from Wilhelm Windelband’s Doktorarbeit The incidence of the notion of chance in the evolutionary mechanism that Charles Darwin envisages in On the origin of species (1859) is one of the basic reasons why the ...

Intravitreal GD2‐Specific Chimeric Antigen Receptor T‐Cell Therapy for Refractory Retinoblastoma

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Effective treatments for advanced, treatment‐resistant retinoblastoma (RB) remain limited. GD2‐specific chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells show potent antitumor activity with minimal toxicity but have not previously been evaluated in RB.

Supercontinuum-tailoring multicolor imaging reveals spatiotemporal dynamics of heterogeneous tumor evolution

open access: yesNature Communications
Tumor heterogeneity and tumor evolution contribute to cancer treatment failure. To understand how selective pressures drive heterogeneous tumor evolution, it would be useful to image multiple important components and tumor subclones in vivo. We propose a
