Characterization, Expression, and Functional Analysis of the Northern Snakehead (Channa argus) Hepcidin

Probiotics and Antimicrobial Proteins, 2023
Hepcidin, an antimicrobial peptide (AMP), is a well-conserved molecule present in various species such as fish, amphibians, birds, reptiles, and mammals. It exhibits broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity and holds a significant role in the innate immune system of host organisms.

Interactions effects of nano-microplastics and heavy metals in hybrid snakehead (Channa maculata ♀ × Channa argus ♂)

Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2022
The interaction between microplastics and contaminants has potentially generated new undefined risks on animals and ecosystems, and nano-microplastics are considered to be more harmful than microplastics. This experiment investigated the interactions and effects of nano-microplastics with heavy metals cadmium in hybrid snakehead.

The complete mitochondrial genome ofChanna argus, Channa maculataand hybrid snakehead fish [Channa maculata(♀) ×Channa argus(♂)]

Mitochondrial DNA, 2013
We sequenced and characterized the complete mitochondrial genome of Channa argus, Channa maculata and their hybrid [C. maculata (♀) and C. argus (♂)]. All the three mitochondrial genomes contained the typical complement of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNAs (tRNAs), 2 ribosomal RNAs (rRNAs) and 1 control region.

Study on Pepsinogens and Pepsins from Snakehead (Channa argus)

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2009
Three pepsinogens (PG1, PG2, and PG3) were highly purified from the stomach of freshwater fish snakehead (Channa argus) by ammonium sulfate fractionation, anion exchange, and gel filtration. Two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and native-PAGE analysis revealed that their molecular masses were 37, 38, and 36 kDa and their isoelectric points 4.8, 4.4, 4 ...

Pharmacokinetics of enrofloxacin in snakehead fish, Channa argus

Journal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 2015
The pharmacokinetics of enrofloxacin (EF) was investigated after single intravenous (i.v.) and oral (p.o.) dose of 10 mg/kg body weight (b.w.) in snakehead fish at 24–26 °C. The plasma concentrations of EF and its metabolite ciprofloxacin (CF) were determined by high‐performance liquid chromatography.

Effect of kelp powder on the resistance of Aeromonas hydrophila in the gut of hybrid snakeheads (Channa maculata ♀ × Channa argus ♂)

Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2023
To assess the level of oxidative stress, expression of immune-related genes, histomorphology, and changes in the intestinal tract of hybrid snakeheads(Channa maculata ♀ × Channa argus ♂) under stress from kelp powder in place of flour against Aeromonas hydrophila.

Bioflocs attenuates lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammation, immunosuppression and oxidative stress in Channa argus

Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2021
The regulation of C/N in aquaculture water is an important means of environmental regulation, of which the most common is bioflocs technology (BFT). Here, an eight-week feeding experiment and a lipopolysaccharide (LPS) challenge test were proceed to investigate the growth, oxidative stress, immunosuppression and GR-NF-κB related genes expression of ...

Role of Myeloperoxidase of northern snakehead (Channa argus) in Aeromonas veronii infection

Microbial Pathogenesis, 2019
Myeloperoxidase (MPO) is a ferrous lysosomal protein with many immune functions that belongs to the heme peroxidase enzyme. In this study, the functions of MPO in the northern snakehead (Channa argus) were investigated by cloning an MPO cDNA sequence with a full length of 3181 bp.
