Iterative Joint Channel Estimation and Multi-User Detection for Multiple-Antenna Aided OFDM Systems

open access: yes, 2007
Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output (MIMO) Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems have recently attracted substantial research interest. However, compared to Single-Input-Single-Output (SISO) systems, channel estimation in the MIMO scenario

Cognitive Radio for Broadband Access in Rural Africa and other Developing Countries [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This thesis examines how Cognitive Radio (CR) can impact broadband access in rural Africa and other developing countries. We investigate how CR through dynamic spectrum access facilitates the efficient use of underutilized spectrum (white spaces) in ...

Blood‐based proteomic profiling reveals context‐dependent changes in BCL2‐associated signaling during taxane therapy in breast cancer patients

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemotherapy side effects significantly impact cancer survivors' quality of life. Using protein levels in blood samples from breast cancer patients before and after 12 weeks of taxane treatment, we detected treatment‐dependent changes in calcium signaling and aging pathways associated with cancer recurrence.

Acute caffeine treatment protects the developing retina from ischemia‐induced cell death

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Caffeine reduces cell death in the developing retina under ischemia (OGD). This effect does not involve BDNF upregulation or antioxidant pathways (NRF2/VEGF). Neuroprotection occurs mainly through adenosine A2A receptor antagonism, decreasing glutamate release and excitotoxicity, highlighting caffeine's potential as an acute neuroprotective agent in ...

Multiuser Decorrelating Based Long-Range Frequency-Domain Channel Transfer Function Prediction in Multicarrier DS-CDMA Systems

open access: yes, 2006
In this contribution, multiuser decorrelating based frequency-domain channel estimation and long range channel prediction techniques are proposed for a generalized Multicarrier DS-CDMA (MC DS-CDMA) system communicating over a fast fading and frequency ...

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Activity Detection and Channel Estimation Based on Correlated Hybrid Message Passing for Grant-Free Massive Random Access

open access: yesEntropy
Massive machine-type communications (mMTC) in future 6G networks will involve a vast number of devices with sporadic traffic. Grant-free access has emerged as an effective strategy to reduce the access latency and processing overhead by allowing devices ...

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.
