A hybrid access method for broadcasting of safety messages in IEEE 802.11p VANETs

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2021
Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) can improve the road safety by transmitting safety-critical messages such as beacons and emergency messages. IEEE 802.11p VANETs have adopted the carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidance (CSMA/CA ...

Information-theoretic limitations on approximate quantum cloning and broadcasting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We prove new quantitative limitations on any approximate simultaneous cloning or broadcasting of mixed states. The results are based on information-theoretic (entropic) considerations and generalize the well known no-cloning and no-broadcasting theorems.

Machine‐Learning Decomposition Identifies a Big Two Structure in Human Personality with Distinct Neurocognitive Profiles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using machine learning on a mega‐scale global dataset (n = 1,336,840) reveals a robust personality trait architecture beyond the Big Five. A Big Two model, broadly capturing social engagement and internal mentation, defines a geometric space that links personality to neurocognitive profiles.

The State-Dependent Semideterministic Broadcast Channel [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2012
We derive the capacity region of the state-dependent semideterministic broadcast channel with noncausal state-information at the transmitter. One of the two outputs of this channel is a deterministic function of the channel input and the channel state, and the state is assumed to be known noncausally to the transmitter but not to the receivers. We show

Mild Focal Cooling Decouples Dendrites to Reconfigure Cortical Output

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mild cooling of the cortical surface selectively modulates apical dendritic excitability, plasticity, and somato‐dendritic coupling, while uncoupling these effects from basal dendrites, and reshapes apical‐driven responses in barrel cortex during whisker touch.

Internet Radio: A New Engine for Content Diversity? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
While traditional radio stations are subject to extensive government regulations, Internet radio stations remain largely unregulated. As Internet radio usage has increased certain stakeholders have begun to argue that these Internet radio broadcasters ...

Generic Approach for Hierarchical Modulation Performance Analysis: Application to DVB-SH [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Broadcasting systems have to deal with channel diversity in order to offer the best rate to the users. Hierarchical modulation is a practical solution to provide several rates in function of the channel quality.

On the user selection for MIMO broadcast channels [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings. International Symposium on Information Theory, 2005. ISIT 2005., 2005
In this paper, a downlink communication system, in which a Base Station (BS) equipped with $M$ antennas communicates with $N$ users each equipped with $K$ receive antennas, is considered. An efficient suboptimum algorithm is proposed for selecting a set of users in order to maximize the sum-rate throughput of the system. For the asymptotic case when $N$

Connexin 43‐Enriched Vesicles Improve Synchronization in hiPSC‐Derived Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Plasma membrane‐derived Connectosomes enriched in connexin‐43 are produced from donor hiPSCs and applied to hiPSC‐derived cardiomyocytes (hiPSC‐CMs). Connexin‐43 channels on Connectosomes remain functional, strengthening intercellular electrochemical coupling and increasing network synchronization over time.

Network Code Design for Orthogonal Two-hop Network with Broadcasting Relay: A Joint Source-Channel-Network Coding Approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper addresses network code design for robust transmission of sources over an orthogonal two-hop wireless network with a broadcasting relay. The network consists of multiple sources and destinations in which each destination, benefiting the relay ...
