Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.

Divalent Metal Ion Transport across Large Biological Ion Channels and Their Effect on Conductance and Selectivity

open access: yesBiochemistry Research International, 2012
Electrophysiological characterization of large protein channels, usually displaying multi-ionic transport and weak ion selectivity, is commonly performed at physiological conditions (moderate gradients of KCl solutions at decimolar concentrations ...

Characterization of CFTR chloride channel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is an inherited disease caused by mutations in a single gene which encodes the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR), a member of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) proteins superfamily. Since the genetic basis of CF was resolved in 1989 when the CFTR gene was cloned and disease-associated mutations were identified ...

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox
