Iron‐dependent lysosomal LDL oxidation induces the expression of scavenger receptor A in human THP‐1 monocytes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In human monocytic cells THP‐1, a limited uptake of native—not oxidized—LDL/VLDL induced expression of scavenger receptor A and cellular adhesion. Induction was inhibited by lysosomotropic (WR‐1065) and lipophilic (BHT) antioxidants and by siRNAs against ferritinophagy.

On the Performance Limits of Pilot-Based Estimation of Bandlimited Frequency-Selective Communication Channels

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper the problem of assessing bounds on the accuracy of pilot-based estimation of a bandlimited frequency selective communication channel is tackled.

Channel estimation techniques for MIMO-OFDM system [PDF]

open access: yesTehnika, 2015
In the wireless communications, channel estimation has an important role, because channel state information (CSI) is obtained base on this estimation. CSI allows the adaptation of transmitting signal to the actual state of communication channel, which is

Performance Analysis of Cognitive Radio Systems with Imperfect Channel Sensing and Estimation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
In cognitive radio systems, employing sensing-based spectrum access strategies, secondary users are required to perform channel sensing in order to detect the activities of primary users. In realistic scenarios, channel sensing occurs with possible errors due to miss-detections and false alarms.

Impact of enhanced leaf model on dose calculation accuracy in single‐isocenter multitarget stereotactic radiosurgery treatments

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Single‐isocenter multitarget (SIMT) radiosurgery has become increasingly popular as advancement in planning and delivery systems have made this approach clinically viable. With targets varying in size and distance from isocenter, SIMT plans are highly complex with dynamic multileaf collimator (MLC) motion.

An Optimal Channel Estimation Scheme for Intelligent Reflecting Surfaces Based on a Minimum Variance Unbiased Estimator [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2019
In a wireless system with Intelligent Reflective Surfaces (IRS) containing many passive elements, we consider the problem of channel estimation. All the links from the transmitter to the receiver via each IRS elements (or groups) are estimated.

Monte Carlo modeling of radiation dose from radiation therapy with superficial x‐rays

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Superficial x‐rays (50–100 kVp) are used for treating non‐melanoma skin cancer and intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT). At these energies, the photoelectric effect significantly increases absorbed dose to bone compared to soft tissue.

On estimating the output entropy of a tensor product of the quantum phase-damping channel with an arbitrary channel [PDF]

open access: yesProbl. Inform. Transm. 49:3 224-231 (2013), 2013
We obtained the estimation from below for the output entropy of a tensor product of the quantum phase-damping channel with an arbitrary channel. It is shown that from this estimation immediately follows that the strong superadditivity of the output entropy holds for this channel as well as for the quantum depolarizing channel.

Dosimetric effect of silicone‐based gel on skin surface during volumetric modulated arc therapy for breast cancer

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose This study aims to quantify and compare the dosimetric effects of varying thicknesses of StrataXRT, a silicone‐based gel, and other topical agents on the skin surface during volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) for breast cancer.
