MIMO Broadcast Channels with Channel Estimation
2007 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2007We consider a multi-user MIMO downlink where the transmitter has only estimates of the channel while the receivers have perfect channel information. The impact of channel estimation error on the sum rate is studied. It is shown that the sum rate saturates due to the inaccurate channel information.

This paper proposes a fast channel estimation (CE) scheme for the OFDM based IEEE 802.11ad wireless local area network (WLAN). The LTF (LTF) -based CE provides better BER (bit error rate) performance at slow fading channel, whereas the pilot-based CE approach is good at fast fading channel.

Diversity with practical channel estimation
IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2005In this paper, we present a framework for evaluating the bit error probability of N/sub d/-branch diversity combining in the presence of non-ideal channel estimates. The estimator structure presented is based on the maximum-likelihood (ML) estimate and arises naturally as the sample mean of N/sub p/ pilot symbols.

Channel and capacity estimation errors
IEEE Communications Letters, 2002Systems with multiple element transmitter and receiver arrays have been shown to achieve very high spectral efficiencies. The theoretically achievable Shannon capacity is a function of the channel between the transmitters and the receivers. On the simulation level, one assumes certain statistical characteristics for the channel, but on a practical ...

Dynamic channel-order estimation algorithm
IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2005This correspondence develops a robust method to estimate channel order in a single-input multiple-output (SIMO) or an oversampled single-input single-output (SISO) system. Current methods based on the use of information theoretic criteria for blind channel-order estimation suffer from estimation errors at high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and when a ...

Channel estimation in fast fading channels
2008 Third International Conference on Communications and Networking in China, 2008Accurate radio channel estimation is necessary for efficient wireless communications. This paper proposes a novel Kalman filter algorithm using basis expansion models (BEMs) of the channel gains to accurately estimate fast fading channels. The channel state for finite duration blocks is summarized in terms of BEM coefficients.

In this chapter, we investigate the design of training sequences for time-multiplexed channel training in C-RANs. Orthogonal training sequences were shown to be optimal or nearly optimal in conventional MIMO systems, where the transmit antennas are co-located, and so are the receive antennas. However, orthogonal training design is very inefficient when

Simple estimators for HF channel estimation
Fourth IEEE Region 10 International Conference TENCON, 2003A comparison is made of four different estimators, for estimating the sampled impulse-response (SIR) of an HF radio link that is designed for the transmission of analog speech signals. The particular application studied is the transmission of digital data at 4800 bit/s, employing a serial quadrature phase shift keyed (QPSK) signal with a carrier ...
