Distributed Machine Learning Based Downlink Channel Estimation for RIS Assisted Wireless Communications

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2022
The downlink channel estimation requires a huge pilot overhead in the reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) assisted communication system. By exploiting the powerful learning ability of the neural network, the machine learning (ML) technique can be ...

Deep Neural Network Based Channel Estimation for Massive MIMO-OFDM Systems With Imperfect Channel State Information

IEEE Systems Journal, 2022
Massive multi-input multi-output (MIMO) has aroused extensive interest in communication industry, as it can effectively increase communication system capacity and reduce transmit power.

MIMO Broadcast Channels with Channel Estimation

2007 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2007
We consider a multi-user MIMO downlink where the transmitter has only estimates of the channel while the receivers have perfect channel information. The impact of channel estimation error on the sum rate is studied. It is shown that the sum rate saturates due to the inaccurate channel information.

Data-Aided Channel Estimation for OTFS Systems With a Superimposed Pilot and Data Transmission Scheme

IEEE Wireless Communications Letters, 2021
The recently developed orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS) modulation has shown its capability of coping with the fast time-varying channels in high-mobility environments.

Estimation of Queues at the Channel Tunnel [PDF]

open access: possibleJournal of the Operational Research Society, 1991
The Channel Tunnel, due to open in 1993, will provide a high-speed rail link between Britain and France. In this paper various scenarios are considered relating to the volume of freight which may be transported during the initial years following the opening of the tunnel.

Channel estimation in fast fading channels

2008 Third International Conference on Communications and Networking in China, 2008
Accurate radio channel estimation is necessary for efficient wireless communications. This paper proposes a novel Kalman filter algorithm using basis expansion models (BEMs) of the channel gains to accurately estimate fast fading channels. The channel state for finite duration blocks is summarized in terms of BEM coefficients.

Channel estimation of DMB-T

IEEE 2002 International Conference on Communications, Circuits and Systems and West Sino Expositions, 2003
A proposed new standard for Chinese DTV is called digital terrestrial multimedia broadcasting (DMB-T). The paper investigates the channel estimation technique of DMB-T. The channel impulse response is obtained by measuring the correlation between the received PN sequence and the locally generated PN sequence.

Channel reliability estimation for turbo decoding in rayleigh fading channels with imperfect channel estimates [PDF]

open access: possibleIEEE Communications Letters, 2002
In this letter we propose a simple estimation scheme of the channel reliability factor for turbo decoding in Rayleigh fading channels with imperfect channel estimates. The channel reliability factor is required for iterative MAP decoding of turbo codes and depends on the error variance of the channel estimate as well as the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR ...

Channel Modeling and Channel Estimation for Holographic Massive MIMO With Planar Arrays

IEEE Wireless Communications Letters, 2021
In a realistic wireless environment, the multi-antenna channel usually exhibits spatially correlated fading. This is more emphasized when a large number of antennas is densely deployed, known as holographic massive MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output ...

Combined channel estimation

2014 International SoC Design Conference (ISOCC), 2014
This paper proposes a fast channel estimation (CE) scheme for the OFDM based IEEE 802.11ad wireless local area network (WLAN). The LTF (LTF) -based CE provides better BER (bit error rate) performance at slow fading channel, whereas the pilot-based CE approach is good at fast fading channel.
