Blind estimation of digital communication channel impulse response

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1994
The article propose novel approaches to the problem of blind channel impulse response estimation for data communication systems, including telephone channels as well as digital radio channels. No training sequence is assumed to be available. Two novel schemes are proposed for channel impulse response estimation.

On the minimization of overhead in channel impulse response measurement

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 1998
This paper presents a new method for channel impulse response measurement with a suitably designed binary sounding sequence. This method minimizes the system overhead and results in ideal channel estimation using three correlators instead of one. This system complexity can be easily overcome by the present technologies.

Localization Based on Channel Impulse Response Estimates

2020 IEEE/ION Position, Location and Navigation Symposium (PLANS), 2020
Location-awareness using wireless signals is a key enabler for numerous emerging applications. Inspired by the recently proposed soft information (SI)-based localization, this paper develops a localization algorithm based on estimates of the channel impulse response (CIR), which inherently contains position information.

Minimum-phase impulse response channels

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2009
We give a sufficient condition that insures that the impulse response of a channel is of minimum phase. The condition is that the energy of the first path be larger than the power spectral density of all subsequent paths. Establishing a lower bound to the first path energy, this condition is more likely to be met if transmitter and receiver are in line-

CHANNEL IMPULSE RESPONSE ESTIMATION

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2013
A human-machine interface system adapted to track movement of an object in air is disclosed. In one aspect, the human-machine interface includes an acoustic transmitter, an acoustic receiver, and logic configured to apply a calculated inverse matrix of an impulse signal transmitted by the acoustic transmitter to a signal received by the acoustic ...

An impulse response model for residential wireless channels

GLOBECOM '03. IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference (IEEE Cat. No.03CH37489), 2004
We present a statistical model for the multipath intensity profile (MIP) that can be used to construct an impulse response of a residential wireless channel. The model incorporates relevant parameters such as distance, global rms delay spread and the correlation between received multipaths. It describes the statistics of the MIP in detail.

Impulse response shortening for multiple co-channels

IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2005. ICC 2005. 2005, 2005
In this paper, a novel design of a receiver-side FIR prefilter is proposed which is able to jointly shorten the impulse responses of multiple co-channels given just one receive antenna. The prefilter coefficients are computed without explicitly solving an eigenvalue problem.
