Polarization of a Point-to-Point Channel by a Multiple Access Channel: A New Method for Different Channel Polarization

Iranian Journal of Science and Technology - Transactions of Electrical Engineering, 2017
The polar coding method which was proposed by Arikan is mentioned. In this article, we will apply this method for the polarization of a general Multiple Access Channel. It will be shown that the polarization of a general Multiple Access Channel with a point-to-point channel can be given a more achievable rate region in the general form.

Channel Combining for Nonstationary Polarization on Erasure Channels

2021 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (ISIT), 2021
The problem of channel polarization for an arbitrary sequence $\{W_{i}\}_{i=0}^{n-1}$ of $n$ independent channels, referred to as a nonstationary sequence of channels, is considered. Also, each of the channels is used only once for communication. We consider a general framework for polarization of non-stationary channels and aim at optimizing the ...

Polar Coding for Channels With Deletions

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2021
Deletion errors are notoriously difficult to correct. The capacity of the binary deletion channel is not yet fully known, and there is no completely satisfactory solution even to the specific problem of correcting only two deletion errors. In this paper, we show that polarization theory, along with the powerful methods of polar coding and successive ...

On polarization channel modeling

IEEE Wireless Communications, 2016
The use of MIMO technology has yielded high capacity in commercial wireless systems. However, a major issue of MIMO systems is that the channel capacity is highly dependent on the correlation between antenna elements. Therefore, multi-polarized antennas have been implemented in MIMO systems to reduce the antenna correlation and realize compact devices.

A study on channel polarization and polar coding

2011 9th IEEE International Conference on ASIC, 2011
In 2006, Arikan introduced the method of channel polarization on which one can construct efficient capacity-achieving codes, called polar codes, for any binary discrete memoryless channel (B-DMC). In this letter, we will give a description of the main ideas and mechanisms of this kind of codes.

On polarization for the linear operator channel

2013 IEEE Information Theory Workshop (ITW), 2013
We address the problem of reliably transmitting information through a network where the nodes perform random linear network coding and where an adversary potentially injects malicious packets into the network. A good model for such a channel is a linear operator channel, where in this work we employ a combined multiplicative and additive matrix channel.

On speed of channel polarization

2010 IEEE Information Theory Workshop, 2010
We review some recent progresses in studies on speed of channel polarization. Firstly, results on a coderate-dependent upper bound of block error probability of polar codes with successive cancellation decoding are reviewed. Then an approach of constructing polar codes for non-binary input alphabet with asymptotic speed of polarization much faster than

Polar codes for channels with deletions

2017 55th Annual Allerton Conference on Communication, Control, and Computing (Allerton), 2017
A polar coding scheme for channels with deletions has been proposed recently, in which the information bits are pre-coded with CRC that helps to detect the location of deletions with high precision. Successive Cancellation (SC) decoding then treats these symbols as simple erasures.

Polar Coding with Enhanced Channel Polarization under Frequency Selective Fading Channels

2018 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC), 2018
Polar coding proposed by Arikan attracts attention as a channel coding scheme with low complexity and high error correction capability. In polar codes, the probability that each output bit of a polar decoder is incorrectly decoded differs depending on the positions of the output bits. This is due to the effect of the channel polarization.

Polar coding for relay channels

2015 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (ISIT), 2015
Polar coding schemes are developed for the decode-forward relaying (digital-to-digital interface) and the compress-forward relaying (analog-to-digital interface) in the three-node relay channel. For decode-forward, a technique based on the recent universal polarization method is applied to create the desired nested structure.
