Hard Times: The Thinking Crisis in the No-Knowledge Society

open access: yesCadmus
The “new” digital (hyper) velocity, in its complex interaction with the human factor and with social relations, preserves the original ambivalence common to any “factor” of change and to any social and cultural process. The complexity of this interaction,

Chaos in Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
After general considerations about limits of theories and models, where small changes may imply large effects, we discuss three cases in galactic astrophysics illustrating how galactic dynamics models may become insufficient when previously neglected effects are taken into account: 1) Like in 3D hydrodynamics, the non-linearity of the Poisson-Boltzmann

Sound‐Based Assembly of Magnetically Actuated Soft Robots Toward Enhanced Release of Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
Magnetic soft robots offer promise in biomedicine due to their wireless actuation and rapid response, but current fabrication methods are complex and have limited cellular compatibility. A new, contactless bioassembly strategy using hydrodynamic instabilities is introduced, enabling customizable, centimeter‐scale robots.

A Periodic Error Correction Method for Terahertz Coded‐Aperture Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A physics‐constrained unsupervised learning framework with periodic error correction is proposed for terahertz coded‐aperture imaging. The method improves reconstruction robustness against noise and model mismatch, while reducing reliance on large‐scale labeled data.

Chaos in Physiological Control Systems: Health or Disease?

open access: yesChaos Theory and Applications
During the nineties, the Rössler’s have reported in their famous book “Chaos in Physiology,” that “physiology is the mother of Chaos.” Moreover, several researchers have proved that Chaos is a generic characteristic of systems in physiology.

Symbolic Reservoir Computing within Memristive Crossbar Arrays as a Cellular Automata

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
In quest of a neuro‐symbolic system with both strong intelligent computing capability and better explainability, a memristor crossbar array‐based cellular automata (symbolic model) for reservoir computing (neural network) is proposed and experimentally demonstrated using an algorithm–hardware codesign approach.
