Predicting EU Emissions Allowance Prices Using Macroeconomic Indicators and Hybrid AI Models

open access: yesJournal of Forecasting, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Predicting carbon allowance prices has grown more crucial in relation to carbon market regulation, financial strategy, and environmental policy development. This study examines a hybrid forecasting system that combines deep learning with ensemble machine learning models to forecast the price fluctuations of EU Emissions Allowance (EUAs) within

Time‐Varying Skewness–Kurtosis Dynamics in Bitcoin Markets

open access: yesJournal of Futures Markets, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper examines the relationship between skewness and kurtosis in Bitcoin spot and futures markets using high‐frequency data. We document a strong convex skewness–kurtosis relationship consistent with theoretical moment restrictions. Trading activity is positively associated with realized kurtosis, particularly in futures markets, though ...

Evidence From Microscopy and U–Pb Geochronology as a Clue to the Influence of the Cretaceous Magmatism in the Diagenesis of Pre‐Salt Carbonate Reservoirs in the Santos Basin (Brazil)

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
Carbonates from Santos Basin revealed U–Pb ages correlated with basalt ages (A), suggesting that they were formed during magmatic events. These events placed hot CO2 in the reservoir, which, when mixed with carbonate‐rich cold water (B), led to thermal convection, enabling the formation of the U contained in the carbonates.

Thermochronologic Constraints on the Extensional History of the Ibex Hills, Southeastern Black Mountains, Death Valley, California

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
A. Modeled T‐t paths for samples in the northern Ibex Hills, showing steady cooling throughout much of the Cenozoic, until rapid Miocene cooling. B. Weighted mean paths for each sample in this study. Note that all show a rapid cooling event at or just after 10 Ma, which is interpreted to represent exhumation as a result of regional extenstion ...

Tectono‐Sedimentary Evolution of the Neogene İnegöl Basin (NW Anatolia): Constraints on Transtensional Basin Development at the Junction of the Western Anatolian Extensional Province and the North Anatolian Fault Zone

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
The study outlines the tectono‐sedimentary evolution of the İnegöl Basin in north‐western Anatolia. Basin formation was controlled by interacting extensional and strike‐slip fault systems linked to uplift of the Uludağ Massif. Terrestrial sedimentation from the Miocene to Pleistocene is reconstructed using abundant fossil mammal assemblages that ...

Geopolitics and global strategy: Making money under anarchy

open access: yesGlobal Strategy Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Research Summary Multinational firms conduct cross‐border trade and investment in a world of anarchy, where nation‐states must secure their survival in the absence of a world government. We develop a geopolitical‐economic order (GEO) framework to argue that the extent of geopolitical competition incentivizes states to create one of two types ...
