Prediction of chaotic behavior
IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems I: Regular Papers, 2005This paper considers the prediction of chaotic behavior using a master-slave synchronization scheme. Based on the stability theory for retarded systems using a Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, we derive a sufficient condition for perfect state prediction of the master system via a time-delayed output signal of the slave system.

Chaotic Behavior of Cellular Automata
2009In this chapter we study the chaotic behavior of cellu- lar automata. It is clear from the results that there are close similarities between the chaotic behavior of dynamical systems on the real interval and CA.

Singapore Rainfall Behavior: Chaotic?
Journal of Hydrologic Engineering, 1999The possibility of making short-term prediction of rainfall is studied by investigating the existence of chaotic behavior in the rainfall data series. The minimum number of variables essential and the number of variables sufficient to model the dynamics of the rainfall process are identified.

Chaotic behavior of the coronary circulation
Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing, 2008The regulation of the coronary circulation is a complex paradigm in which many inputs that influence vasomotor tone have to be integrated to provide the coronary vasomotor adjustments to cardiac metabolism and to perfusion pressure. We hypothesized that the integration of many disparate signals that influence membrane potential of smooth muscle cells ...

Chaotic behavior of piezoelectric plate vibration
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2002A dynamical model for the piezoelectric plate vibrations is presented in this letter. The calculations of phase portrait and Lyapunov exponents based on the coupled-mode equations given by the theoretical model show that the vibrations of a piezoelectric plate resonator under the resonance may exhibit the chaotic behavior. The experiment is carried out

CHAOTIC BEHAVIOR IN AN ADVERTISING DIFFUSION MODEL
International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 1995The paper is concerned with an advertising diffusion model where a firm devotes a fixed proportion of sales to advertising, while customers go through a two-stage adoption process. The model takes the form of a second-order, time-invariant, nonlinear dynamic system, in which a homoclinic bifurcation to infinity is shown to exist.

This paper investigates the effects of discrete versus continuous time modelling as well as the effects of incorporating time delays on the dynamics of nonlinear systems. Different types of approximation are discussed in general and thereafter applied to a monopolistic advertising model — based on the Nerlove-Arrow model — with budget constraints ...

Chaotic behavior in manufacturing systems
International Journal of Production Economics, 2006Abstract In this article, we present a methodology derived from non-linear dynamic systems (NLDS) theory for analyzing the dynamic behavior of manufacturing systems. Some simple production systems are simulated, for which a chaotic behavior can be observed under certain dispatching rules and utilization levels.

Proceedings of the 41st IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2002., 2003
The paper continues the study of nonlinear interaction of the TCP (transmission control protocol) and RED (random early detection) by employing the celebrated "period three implies chaos" theorem of Li and Yorke, showing that a straightforward application of this theorem provides a sufficient condition under which the TCP-RED system undergoes chaotic ...
