Nonlinear and chaotic dynamics of a vibratory conveying system

open access: yesNonlinear dynamics, 2023
In this work, a simulation model of a vibratory conveying system is presented. The simulation model is based on a continuous contact formulation in vertical direction which is extended by a friction force in horizontal direction to simulate a conveying ...

Trade-off dynamics and chaotic behavior in nonautonomous prey-predator model with group defense

open access: yesNonlinear dynamics, 2023
Ecological “trade-off” is prioritising one trait over another. Predators put their lives at danger to pursue dangerous prey, and their injuries can reduce their chances of survival.

Analysis of the Chaotic Dynamics Duopoly Game of ISPs Bounded Rational

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2022
We propose in this paper an investigation of the dynamical behaviors of a duopoly model with two Internet services providers (ISPs). The competition between them is assumed to take place in terms of their pricing decisions and their number of cached ...

How Does the Smaller Alignment Index (SALI) Distinguish Order from Chaos [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The ability of the Smaller Alignment Index (SALI) to distinguish chaotic from ordered motion, has been demonstrated recently in several publications. [Ch. Skokos, J. of Phys. A 34 (2001), 10029. Ch. Skokos, Ch. Antonopoulos, T. C. Bountis and M.

Bayesian inference of chaotic dynamics by merging data assimilation, machine learning and expectation-maximization [PDF]

open access: yesFoundations of Data Science, 2020
The reconstruction from observations of high-dimensional chaotic dynamics such as geophysical flows is hampered by (i) the partial and noisy observations that can realistically be obtained, (ii) the need to learn from long time series of data, and (iii ...

Chaotic dynamics in a novel COVID-19 pandemic model described by commensurate and incommensurate fractional-order derivatives

open access: yesNonlinear dynamics, 2021
Mathematical models based on fractional-order differential equations have recently gained interesting insights into epidemiological phenomena, by virtue of their memory effect and nonlocal nature. This paper investigates the nonlinear dynamic behavior of

Chaotic Dynamics and Chaos Control in a Fractional-Order Satellite Model and Its Time-Delay Counterpart

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2021
Fractional analysis provides useful tools to describe natural phenomena, and therefore, it is more convenient to describe models of satellites. This work illustrates rich chaotic behaviors that exist in a fractional-order model for satellite with and ...

Chaotic dynamics of a tri-topic food chain model with Beddington–DeAngelis functional response in presence of fear effect

open access: yesNonlinear dynamics, 2021
The most important fact in the field of theoretical ecology and evolutionary biology is the strategy of predation for predators and avoidance of prey from predator attack.

Amplitude death in coupled chaotic oscillators [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. E 72, 056204 (2005), 2005
Amplitude death can occur in chaotic dynamical systems with time-delay coupling, similar to the case of coupled limit cycles. The coupling leads to stabilization of fixed points of the subsystems. This phenomenon is quite general, and occurs for identical as well as nonidentical coupled chaotic systems.

Chaotic Assessment of the Heave and Pitch Dynamics Motions of Air Cushion Vehicles

open access: yesInternational Journal of System Dynamics Applications, 2021
In this study, a three degrees of freedom nonlinear air cushion vehicle (ACV) model is introduced to examine the dynamic behavior of the heave and pitch responses in addition to the cushion pressure of the ACV in both time and frequency domains.
