Featureless Broadband Chaos Through Cascaded Optically Injected Semiconductor Lasers

open access: yesPhotonics
Optical chaos generated by a semiconductor laser under cascaded optical injection is experimentally and numerically investigated. A semiconductor slave laser under continuous-wave optical injection from a master laser is employed as the chaotic laser ...

Entropy‐Driven Innovations: Entropy Stabilized Oxides for High‐Performance Next‐Generation Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This article explores high‐entropy‐stabilized oxides (HEOs) as novel functional materials for addressing critical issues in lithium–sulfur (Li–S) batteries, including lithium polysulfide (LPS) shuttling, inadequate conductivity, and slow redox kinetics.

Ketogenic diet for infantile epileptic spasms

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Approximately half of all cases of Infantile Epileptic Spasms Syndrome (IESS) do not respond to vigabatrin and hormonal therapies. There is no clear consensus as to the second‐line therapy for IESS. Ketogenic diet (KD) has emerged as an effective treatment for certain drug‐resistant epilepsies and in many cases of IESS.

On One Means of Hard Excitation of Oscillations in Nonlinear Flutter Systems

open access: yesМоделирование и анализ информационных систем, 2014
Considered are so-called finite-dimensional flutter systems, i.e. systems of ordinary differential equations, arising from Galerkin approximations of certain boundary value problems of aeroelasticity theory as well as from a number of radiophysics ...

Caught in the fire: An accidental ethnography of discomfort in researching sex work

open access: yesFeminist Anthropology, EarlyView.
Abstract Drawing on fifteen years of engagement with researching Israel's sex industry, this article uses accidental ethnography to propose discomfort‐as‐method for feminist anthropology. I argue that discomfort is not a by‐product of fieldwork but a constitutive condition that disciplines researchers and shapes what can be known.

Distributed Feedbacks for Time-Delay Signature Suppression of Chaos Generated From a Semiconductor Laser

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2012
Chaotic dynamics of a semiconductor laser subject to distributed feedbacks from a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) are investigated through detailed simulations. Because of distributed reflections along the FBG, the approach of FBG feedback performs better than

Experimental Factors and Techniques for Pool Boiling Heat Transfer Enhancement: A Critical Review

open access: yesHeat Transfer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This review presents a comprehensive assessment of active strategies for enhancing pool boiling heat transfer, with a focus on techniques that do not rely solely on the boiling surface modification. It examines a broad range of methodologies including fluid additives, external fields, mechanical interventions, and thermal‐geometric tuning that

The Bazaar as a Model for Knowledge Work

open access: yesKnowledge and Process Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper presents fieldwork that extends existing metaphors of knowledge work as a process shaped by hierarchical or market forces. A qualitative, ethnographic study of six knowledge‐intensive businesses in two countries identifies striking parallels with the Middle Eastern bazaar in contrast to Western impersonal markets and hierarchies. We
