Quantum response for chaotic resonances

Physical Review E, 2000
Chaotic dynamics of conducting electrons in the presence of a high-frequency electromagnetic field and a constant homogeneous magnetic field is considered. It is shown that quantum fluctuations become important in this case on a time scale shorter than mean free time.

Resonant forcing of multidimensional chaotic map dynamics

Physical Review E, 2007
We study resonances of chaotic map dynamics. We use the calculus of variations to determine the additive forcing function that induces the largest response. We find that resonant forcing functions complement the separation of nearby trajectories, in that the product of the displacement of nearby trajectories and the resonant forcing is a conserved ...

Uniform resonant chaotic mixing in fluid flows

Nature, 2003
Laminar flows can produce particle trajectories that are chaotic, with nearby tracers separating exponentially in time. For time-periodic, two-dimensional flows and steady three-dimensional (3D) flows, enhancements in mixing due to chaotic advection are typically limited by impenetrable transport barriers that form at the boundaries between ordered and

Sonic Objects, Resonance and Chaotics

Leonardo Music Journal, 2012
The author describes structural elements for and the conditions and contexts within which he creates his work. The recurring use of fractals and resonance is integral to the construction of sound objects.

Chaotic dynamics at cyclotron resonances

2018
Mechanisms and criteria for the transition to chaotic dynamics of particles and fields under conditions of electron cyclotron resonances (ECR) are considered. It is shown that the known conditions for the onset of dynamic chaos of charged particles in external electromagnetic fields require careful use.

Chaotic Jumping Near Resonances: Finite-Dimensional Systems

1999
In this chapter we study the global effect of resonances in near-integrable evolution equations. As in Chapter 2, the unperturbed equation is assumed to have a set of resonant states, which appear as fixed points in a frame moving with the forcing. The resonant states are connected through a heteroclinic network of orbits before perturbation and admit ...
