Monopisthocotyla (Platyhelminthes, Neodermata) parasites from Brycon cephalus (Günther, 1869) from the Moa River, state of Acre, Brazil [PDF]

open access: yesCheck List
During studies on parasites of fishes from Moa River, state of Acre, five species of Dactylogyridae were identified parasitizing Brycon cephalus (Günther, 1869): Anacanthorus elegans Kritsky, Thatcher & Kayton, 1979, Anacanthorus ...

Bibliografía de los peces de agua dulce de la Argentina Suplemento 1996-2002. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Between 1981 and 1995, we published five bibliographic lists (López et al., 1981, 1982,1987, 1989 y 1995) that included the publications referred to Argentine freshwater fishes and related general information published since Ringuelet et al. (1967).

Findings From the Pearl River Basin: Dissolved Oxygen Dominates Functional Trait Filtering and Diversity Patterns in Urban Rivers

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
Urbanization reshapes fish communities via environmental filtering. Surveying 44 sites across an urban (Huadi) and a relatively natural (Zengjiang) river in the Pearl River Basin (2024), we linked environmental variables to fish functional traits using RLQ and SEM, finding that dissolved oxygen is the dominant filter in urban reaches—selecting low ...

A new species of Acestrocephalus (Characiformes: Characidae) from Venezuela.

open access: yesRevista de biologia tropical, 2000
A new species of Acestrocephalus is described from 60 specimens collected in the Río Orinoco and Río Negro drainages, Venezuela. This species is distinguished. from aH other Acestrocephalus by the combination of the foHowing characters: anal rays, 29-36; 63-71 perforated scales on (he lateral line; 10-12 scales aboye and 9-12 below the lateral line; 39-

Unraveling Temporal Fish Diversity in a Neotropical Hydropower Reservoir: Comparing eDNA Metabarcoding to Traditional Fishing Methods

open access: yesEnvironmental DNA, Volume 8, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
Comparing eDNA metabarcoding and gillnet surveys in a Neotropical reservoir, this study finds that eDNA detects greater species richness yet reveals distinct assemblage structures. The results underscore the value of integrating both methods to achieve comprehensive biodiversity monitoring in hydropower‐impacted ecosystems.

Global Patterns and Gaps in Research on Salinity Tolerance of Inland Fishes

open access: yesFish and Fisheries, Volume 27, Issue 2, Page 400-411, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Freshwater salinization is an emerging threat impacting approximately one‐third of the world's freshwater bodies. However, the salinity tolerance of many inland fishes remains understudied, despite being a crucial factor in determining species distributions and fitness.
