Characteristic frequency functions and characteristic gain functions

International Journal of Control, 1977
Abstract In the transform analysis of linear systems the two classical approaches use complex functions to study gain as a function of frequency (the Nyquist—Bode approach)and to study frequency as a function of gain (the Evans root locus approach)The central feature of any transform approach to the analysis of linear multivariable systems is the use ...

Characteristic Functions–II

1989
The characteristic function (CF, defined below) is very useful in many areas of mathematics, not only probability and statistics. Usually, this term is used for what we have called the indicator function and our CF is called a bilateral Fourier transform; needless to say, there is also variation in notation. We begin this lesson with some remarks about

Characteristic Functions of Functions

Nature, 1968
BECAUSE the expense of computing Fourier transforms is much less than it used to be, the definition of statistical distributions by means of their characteristic functions (CFs) is of increased practical value. I shall outline a formal process for expressing the characteristic function of a function g(X) in terms of the CF of X, denoted by φ, together ...

Functional Characteristics of a Multilingual Processor

IEEE Transactions on Computers, 1971
This paper describes the functional characteristics of the Standard Computer MLP-900 processor. This microprogrammable processor is designed for general-purpose emulation of a wide variety of known processors as well as being adaptable to new general-purpose and special-purpose applications.

The characteristic functions of functions

Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series A. Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1968
Abstract The characteristic functions of various functions of a real or vector random variable are expressed in terms of the characteristic function of that variable. In the examples there is special emphasis on the stable distributions that have real characteristic functions.

Abstract Characteristic Function

Complex Analysis and Operator Theory, 2010
This paper is concerned with (a very large class of) \(n\)-tuples of commuting operators on a Hilbert space which have an analytic model consisting of multiplication operators on a domain in \(\mathbb{C}^n\), as developed in [\textit{C.-G. Ambrozie}, \textit{M. Engliš} and \textit{V. Müller}, J. Oper. Theory 47, No. 2, 287--302 (2002; Zbl 1019.47015)].

On the theory of characteristic functions

Russian Mathematical Surveys, 2004
The paper gives a representation theorem (sufficient and necessary conditions) for characteristic functions in probability theory. The theorem is based on the representation theorem for completely monotonic functions.
