Surface potential imaging and characterizations of a GaN p-n junction with Kelvin probe force microscopy

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2020
We applied Kelvin probe force microscopy (KPFM) to characterize the p-n junction grown on hydride vapor-phase epitaxy GaN wafers with three different doses of the p-type dopant Mg.

A machine learning route between band mapping and band structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The electronic band structure (BS) of solid state materials imprints the multidimensional and multi-valued functional relations between energy and momenta of periodically confined electrons.

Strengthening Al-Zn-Mg Alloys via Ultra-Fine Lamella Structures Containing a High Density of Dislocations and Clusters

open access: yesMetals, 2019
A new method of thermo-mechanical processing has been designed by introducing pre-aging before general cold rolling for an Al-Zn-Mg alloy. This process results in an increase of 200 MPa in yield strength compared to that of the peak-aged samples.

Cryogenic 4D-STEM analysis of an amorphous-crystalline polymer blend: Combined nanocrystalline and amorphous phase mapping

open access: yesiScience, 2022
Summary: Understanding and visualizing the heterogeneous structure of immiscible semicrystalline polymer systems is critical for optimizing their morphology and microstructure. We demonstrate a cryogenic 4D-STEM technique using a combination of amorphous

Reprint of:The materials science of skin: Analysis, characterization, and modeling

open access: yesProgress in Materials Science, 2021
Abstract Skin is the outermost layer of the body and acts as a primary protective barrier against external agents such as heat, light, infection, and injury. Additionally, skin regulates the temperature of the body and the exchange of fluids. Skin contains a vast network of nerves, glands, and vessels that enable sensing of heat, touch, pressure and ...

Recent advances in in-situ transmission electron microscopy techniques for heterogeneous catalysis

open access: yesiScience, 2023
Summary: The process of heterogeneous catalytic reaction under working conditions has long been considered a “black box”, which is mainly because of the difficulties in directly characterizing the structural changes of catalysts at the atomic level ...

Hard x-ray emission spectroscopy: a powerful tool for the characterization of magnetic semiconductors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This review aims to introduce the x-ray emission spectroscopy (XES) and resonant inelastic x-ray scattering (RIXS) techniques to the materials scientist working with magnetic semiconductors (e.g.
