<title>Applications of vibrational spectroscopy: microscopy in materials science and characterization</title> [PDF]

open access: possibleSPIE Proceedings, 1992
Infrared and Raman spectrometers coupled to optical microscopes provide the spectroscopist with powerful tools for the identification, characterization and mapping of materials using high spatial resolution. Each combination has its own attributes and many applications; the emphasis here is placed on the determination of the molecular structure and ...

Materials Science

Journal of Dental Research, 1981
The monomer systems of conventional composites and smooth-surface microfilled composites were studied by means of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The monomer composition varied from brand to brand. Obviously, this will result in different physical properties and clinical behavior.

Processing Science: Characterizing Flow Behavior of High Temperature Structural Materials

1986
Abstract : This grant provided for the purchase of a high temperature vacuum and controlled atmosphere furnace system. A Brew model 1052 was acquired, with a temperature capability of 1650 C. The furnace chamber has been mounted in the load frame of a servohydraulic mechanical tester with high load capacity and stroke rate capability.

Electrochemical Materials Science

Electrochimica Acta, 2000
After a short description of problems, the development of electrochemical materials science in ISE is reviewed. Principles of electrochemical experiments are described for high and low speed processes and the correspondent current densities. Coating technologies are characterized by the thickness/overpotential dependence for processes of conducting and

Chemistry of solid–solid interfaces — A review of its characterization, theory, and relevance to materials science

Journal of Vacuum Science and Technology, 1980
The chemistry of solid–solid interfaces in metals is reviewed in relation to its characterization, theory, and relevance to materials science. The current techniques for measuring interface segregation, AES, STEM with x-ray analysis, and mass-resolved field desorption microscopy, are outlined and their advantages discussed.
