Gigahertz quantized charge pumping
Nature Physics, 2007The high-speed, high-accuracy transport of single electrons in nanoscale devices is predicted to underpin future electronics. A key and topical application is the development of a fundamental standard of electrical current linking the ampere to the elementary charge and frequency. For a practical standard, currents at the nanoampere level are required,

2020 IEEE 14th International Conference on Compatibility, Power Electronics and Power Engineering (CPE-POWERENG), 2020
An inductive charge pump derived from a step-up converter with lower voltage stress at the capacitor is investigated with the help of differential equations, energy considerations, and with the u-Zi-diagram. Loss mechanisms are treated and simulations are shown.

Analysis of charge pumps using charge balance
2000 IEEE 31st Annual Power Electronics Specialists Conference. Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.00CH37018), 2002A simple, generalized method for steady-state analysis of charge pumps or switched-capacitor power supplies, which is intuitive yet accurate, is presented. Second order effects that were previously not considered are included. The analysis is compared with simulations and shown to be accurate.

An improved charge-averaging charge-pump scheme
Analog Integrated Circuits and Signal Processing, 2007An improved charge-averaging charge-pump scheme is described in the paper. The circuit mainly includes four pairs of switches and four sampling capacitors. Two operation modes (normal/charge-averaging) are achieved by switching on/off. SpectreVerilog simulation results show the proposed scheme can strongly reduce the energy of spurs, and could be ...

High Light-Load Efficiency Charge Pumps
2005 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2005We first analyze the undesired charge transfer occurring in charge pumps; we then present a circuit which is less susceptible to this issue, resulting in significant improvements of the light-load efficiency in charge pumps which must have a sufficiently high maximum current capability. SPICE simulations confirm the theoretical results.

Charge-pump circuits: power-consumption optimization
IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems I: Fundamental Theory and Applications, 2002In this paper, an optimized strategy for designing charge pumps with minimum power consumption is presented. The approach allows designers to define the number of stages that, for a given input, and an output voltage, maximize power efficiency. Capacitor value is then set to provide the current capability required.

A buffered charge pump with zero charge sharing
2008 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS), 2008The origins and detrimental effects of charge injection in charge-pump PLLs are discussed. Standard topologies for minimizing charge injection are discussed, and a new charge- pump topology with virtually zero charge injection is presented. Simulation results are presented to compare the performance of the proposed topology with standard designs, and ...

High-Efficiency CMOS Charge Pump
2006 13th IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Circuits and Systems, 2006A charge pump topology with enhanced driving capability for very low voltage applications is presented. The proposed scheme is able to operate with a supply voltage as low as 900 mV and ensures high voltage gain, high driving capability, and high power efficiency over the whole current range.

Clock swing enhanced charge pump
2011 IEEE International Conference of Electron Devices and Solid-State Circuits, 2011A new charge pump schematic, using swing enhanced clock to increase the output voltage, are proposed. Simulation result presents that the proposed circuit can reach higher output voltage than traditional Dickson charge pump. Under 5V power voltage, proposed 8-stage circuit can reach 52.2V, while traditional 39.6V.
