Single-stage Charge-pump Voltage-source Electronic Ballast For A 70 W Hps Lamp

open access: yesEletrônica de Potência, 2007
In this paper a single-stage charge-pump voltage-source electronic ballast for a 70 W High Pressure Sodium [HPS] lamp is proposed. Although charge-pump ballasts have already been studied in fluorescent lamp applications, for HPS lamps this topology ...

Electrically Controlled Pumping of Spin Currents in Topological Insulators

open access: yes, 2011
Pure spin currents are shown to be generated by an electrically controlled quantum pump applied at the edges of a topological insulator. The electric rather than the more conventional magnetic control offers several advantages and avoids, in particular ...

Evolution of dopant-induced helium nanoplasmas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Two-component nanoplasmas generated by strong-field ionization of doped helium nanodroplets are studied in a pump-probe experiment using few-cycle laser pulses in combination with molecular dynamics simulations.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Numerical Study of Photo-Induced Dynamics in Double-Exchange Model

open access: yes, 2010
Photo-induced spin and charge dynamics in double-exchange model are numerically studied. The Lanczos method and the density-matrix renormalization-group method are applied to one-dimensional finite-size clusters. By photon irradiation in a charge ordered

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Ultrafast Charge Dynamics in Bulk Zinc Oxide under Intense Photoexcitation

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
The photo-induced charge dynamics of textbook wide-bandgap semiconductor ZnO have been investigated on the picosecond time-scale. We performed optical Pump-THz Probe experiments in order to measure the dielectric constant of the material after high ...

Pumping in an interacting quantum wire

open access: yes, 2003
We study charge and spin pumping in an interacting one-dimensional wire. We show that a spatially periodic potential modulated in space and time acts as a quantum pump inducing a dc-current component at zero bias.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.
