Photoinduced Charge Separation in Titania Nanotubes

The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2006
The photocatalytic one-electron oxidation reaction of an aromatic compound during UV light irradiation of titania nanotubes and nanoparticles was investigated using time-resolved diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. Remarkably long-lived radical cations of the aromatic compound and trapped electrons were observed for the nanotubes when compared to those ...

Separating charges is a gas

Science, 2017
Electrochemistry Solid and liquid electrolytes allow for charges or ions to move while keeping anodes and cathodes separate. Separation prevents short circuits from occurring in energy storage devices. Rustomji et al. show that separation can also be achieved by using fluorinated hydrocarbons that are liquefied under pressure.

Efficient Charge Separation in Multidimensional Nanohybrids

Nano Letters, 2011
We report unidirectional charge transfer in multidimensional nanohybrids, consisting of a quantum dot, an electronically active molecular linker, and a carbon nanotube. After covalent attachment to the nanotube, only emission consistent with the negatively charged quantum dot exciton ion rather than the neutral exciton is observed, showing nearly ...

Primary charge separation in Photosystem II

Photosynthesis Research, 2000
In this Minireview, we discuss a number of issues on the primary photosynthetic reactions of the green plant Photosystem II. We discuss the origin of the 683 and 679 nm absorption bands of the PS II RC complex and suggest that these forms may reflect the single-site spectrum with dominant contributions from the zero-phonon line and a pronounced ...

Stable photoinduced charge separation in heptacene

Chemical Communications, 2007
Heptacene, generated in inert gas matrices by photobisdecarbonylation of a bridged alpha-diketone precursor, undergoes ionization into radical anion and radical cation upon UV irradiation.

Photoinduced Charge Separation in Molecular Silicon

Chemistry – A European Journal, 2016
AbstractInterest in molecular silicon semiconductors arises from the properties shared with bulk silicon like earth abundance and the unique architectures accessible from a structure distinctly different than rigid π‐conjugated organic semiconductors.

Stick slip, charge separation and decay

pure and applied geophysics, 1986
Measurements of charge separation in rock during stable and unstable deformation give unexpectedly large decay times of 50 sec. Time-domain induced polarization experiments on wet and dry rocks give similar decay times and suggest that the same decay mechanisms operate in the induced polarization response as in the relaxation of charge generated by ...

Nanorod Heterostructures Showing Photoinduced Charge Separation

Small, 2007
AbstractSize‐ and shape‐dependent property modifications of semiconductor nanocrystals have been a subject of intense interest because of their potential for future engineering devices. The bandgap and related optical‐property tuning of these materials are mainly governed by the nature of their band edges.
