Charge transport in DNA

Current Opinion in Structural Biology, 2002
The base pair stack within double helical DNA provides an effective medium for charge transport. The DNA pi-stack mediates oxidative DNA damage over long molecular distances in a reaction that is exquisitely sensitive to the sequence-dependent conformation and dynamics of DNA.

Local Charge Transport at the Interface of Semiconductor and Charge Transport Mediator

Advanced Optical Materials, 2022
AbstractCharge transport mediators are commonly used in photoelectronic devices to promote selective charge transport and mitigate carrier losses. However, related investigations are mainly carried out by the trial‐and‐error method, and a deeper understanding of its local charge transport behavior is still lacking.

Charge transport in desolvated DNA

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2013
The conductivity of DNA in molecular junctions is often probed experimentally under dry conditions, but it is unclear how much of the solvent remains attached to the DNA and how this impacts its structure, electronic states, and conductivity. Classical MD simulations show that DNA is unstable if the solvent is removed completely, while a micro-hydrated

Space Charge and Charge Transport in Polypropylene

2005 12th International Symposium on Electrets, 2006
Space charge distributions in various polypropylene (PP) films were measured with the PEA method. Specimens were 100 /spl mu/m-thick films of homo-PP and PP-copolymers including -3 wt% ethylene which were polymerized using metallocene or Ziegler catalysts.

Charging of Molecules during Transport

Nano Letters, 2005
The possibility that a single molecule can acquire charge during steady-state transport is an open issue. We report first-principles calculations in a range of configurations of certain molecules and conclude the following. When a molecule is strongly coupled to the electrodes, charging is not sustainable.

Charge Transport in Eumelanin [PDF]

open access: possible
Melanins are a class of bio-macromolecules that are found throughout the biosphere. They fulfill various functions in human beings, which makes them a long studied substance in medicine and biology. Furthermore they possess a set of rare and special physico-chemical properties which include featureless broad band absorption in the UV-Vis spectrum and ...
