A Postcolonial Critique of Community Energy: Searching for Community as Solidarity in India and Scotland

open access: yesAntipode, Volume 53, Issue 1, Page 200-221, January 2021., 2021
Abstract Community renewable energy (CRE) represents a growing empirical and academic turn towards community‐based sustainability and climate change interventions. This paper brings together postcolonial theory and CRE for the first time to outline fundamental tensions in the conceptualisation and application of the idea of community. The understanding

Hybrid Meson Interpretation of the Exotic Resonance π1(1600)

open access: yesAdvances in High Energy Physics, Volume 2020, Issue 1, 2020., 2020
The exotic JPC = 1−+resonance π1(1600) is examined in the framework of the Quark Model with Constituent Gluon (QMCG). We report the possibility of interpreting that resonance as qq¯g meson, with a masse ≃1.65−0.04+0.05 GeV, and a decay width to ρπ≃0.28−0.09+0.14 GeV.

Modelling and simulation of hydrogen production via natural gas plasma pyrolysis

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 104, Issue 3, Page 1174-1189, March 2026.
Methane pyrolysis simulation model. Abstract Plasma pyrolysis is a cutting‐edge technology that produces hydrogen and solid carbon from methane without emitting carbon dioxide. In this study, we developed a process simulation model in Aspen HYSYS to analyze the behaviour of this technology at the commercial scale.

Opinion and report of the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) on the assessment of the impact of fox population dynamics on public health

open access: yesFood Risk Assess Europe, Volume 3, Issue 2, April 2025.
ABSTRACT The Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes) can be hunted as a game species. It may also be listed as a “species likely to cause damage” (ESOD – the acronym in French), for public health reasons among others. Conversely, benefits linked to the presence of foxes are also put forward, such as the predation of rodents carrying zoonotic agents.

Staying with the blackout: an insecure anthropology of energy

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, Volume 30, Issue 4, Page 892-911, December 2024.
Abstract In the twenty‐first century, blackouts have settled into a familiar sequence of events in the fully electrified world. After jolting publics into a sudden awareness of energy assemblages, they gradually disappear from public memory. This article is an exercise in dwelling on blackouts that have already begun to recede from public memory so as ...

Switzerland: Political Developments and Data in 2023

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Political Research Political Data Yearbook, Volume 63, Issue 1, Page 491-512, December 2024.
Abstract In 2023, Switzerland's profound integration into the globalized world was particularly evident, fundamentally challenging the notion of political sovereignty. Yet, this interconnectedness also means that Swiss domestic rules strongly reverberate around the world, such as in the case of policy failure regarding financial regulation.

The future of food safety: possible trends for the years 2022‐2032 and their influence on food safety and nutrition

open access: yesFood Risk Assess Europe, Volume 2, Issue 3, July 2024.
Abstract Over the next decade, demographic, societal, technological, economic, environmental, and political factors are expected to significantly influence the agri‐food chain. Demographic shifts, characterised by an aging population and sustained migration, along with evolving consumer demands, will drive a greater emphasis on sustainability.

Source, Migration Pathways, and Atmospheric Release of Geologic Methane Associated With the Complex Permafrost Regimes of the Outer Mackenzie River Delta, Northwest Territories, Canada

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Earth Surface, Volume 129, Issue 6, June 2024.
Abstract Sources and fluxes of methane to the atmosphere from permafrost are significant but poorly constrained in global climate models. We present data collected from the variable permafrost setting of the outer Mackenzie River Delta, including observations of aquatic methane seepage, core determinations of in situ methane occurrence and seep gas ...
