Occlusal Dysesthesia: Identifying Knowledge Gaps to Advance Clinical Care

This scoping review highlights major knowledge gaps in the understanding of occlusal dysesthesia, including limited evidence on sensory, psychological and neurobiological mechanisms. Current theories remain largely unverified, underscoring the need for integrated biopsychosocial research to improve diagnosis and patient care.

Number of Teeth and Posterior Occlusal Pairs by Sociodemographic Factors in the Finnish Adult Population, Results From the Healthy Finland 2023 Study

In Healthy Finland 2023‐study, edentulism prevalence was 4.2%, mean number of teeth 24.8, and POPs (posterior occlusal pairs) 6.5. POPs and number of teeth had likewise associations with sociodemographic background factors: older age, lower education, lower income, and being widowed were associated with lower number of teeth and POPs.
