Abstract This paper presents a new method, multiple time-varying parameter (MTVP) turning for chatter suppression. Compared to the single time-varying parameter (STVP) turning, the new method uses both time-varying spindle speed and time-varying rake angle to suppress chatter.

A fuzzy system for chatter suppression in end milling

This paper reports a fuzzy logic approach for chatter suppression in end milling processes. Vibration energy and the peak value of a vibration frequency spectrum are jointly used as chatter indicators and inputs to the proposed fuzzy controller. The outputs of the fuzzy controller are the altered machining parameters for chatter suppression.

Proposal of ‘accelerative cutting’ for suppression of regenerative chatter

Abstract A novel speed variation method, namely ‘accelerative cutting’, is proposed for suppression of regenerative chatter in short-duration plunge cutting, e.g. finishing of sealing, seating, and bearing surfaces.
