Chatter Vibration of Lathe Tools
Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1956Abstract This paper deals with a chatter vibration which occurs frequently when metals are being machined. It has been ascertained experimentally that the chatter is a self-excited vibration caused by the lag in fluctuation taking place in the horizontal cutting force behind the horizontal vibration of the work.

Simulation of Chatter Vibrations in Reaming
Volume 3: Design and Manufacturing, 2007A time domain approach is used to study the cutting conditions in reaming process that leads the system to regenerative chatter vibrations. The dynamic analysis of the system includes inertia of the tool, centripetal and Coriolis terms, damping and the first mode bending of reamer. A model of cutting forces proportional to chip cross sectional area and

Flank face texture design to suppress chatter vibration in cutting
, 2020Process damping is useful in improving chatter stability in a low cutting speed range. This paper presents a texture design on tool flank faces that can effectively generate process damping.

Active vibration control for chatter suppression
38th Structures, Structural Dynamics, and Materials Conference, 1997The vibration absorber, in its various forms, is a well-known control strategy that reduces the forced vibratory response of structures by introducing a carefully tuned, auxiliary degree of freedom. The method is simple, effective, and widely used.

Suppression of Chatter Vibration in Drilling
Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering, 1998In this study, from the viewpoint of suppressing chatter vibration in drilling, the effects of cutting conditions on the initiation boundary of chatter vibration were investigated experimentally. Furthermore, the application of an impact damper on drills was attempted to suppress chatter vibrations.

The Modulation of Chatter Vibrations
Journal of Engineering for Industry, 1969The results of several experimental investigations concerning the nature of machining chatter are discussed. They indicate that chatter vibrations are generally amplitude modulated and that the chatter frequency may or may not vary from the free vibrational frequency of the chattering component.

Simulation of Chatter Vibrations for Wiper Systems
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2002<div class="htmlview paragraph">An experimental investigation is first carried out to analyze the influence of the geometrical configuration of a wiper system on the chattering occurrence. The measurement results show a combined influence of the load applied on the rubber blade and the attack angle on the vibratory level of the blade.

Detection of the onset of chatter vibration
Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1986In a flexible manufacturing system or a fully automated machining system, the computer control system of the machine tools must be able to recognize and control the cutting states, particularly the unwanted ones. Chatter vibration being one of them, its onset needs to be detected.

Chatter identification in turning process based on vibration analysis using Hilbert-Huang transform
Journal of Mechanical Engineering and Sciences, 2020In machining process, the increasing cutting depth is aimed to accelerate machining operations in a short time. However, the increasing cutting depth can cause chatter vibration at any time.

Analysis of Ultrasonic Honing Chatter Vibration Trajectory
Advanced Materials Research, 2010Grinding chatter belongs to non-linear vibration, whose generation mechanism is complex. The eliminating and reducing of vibration are very difficult, which have been one of the hot and difficult problems at home and abroad. Power ultrasonic vibration honing is a special processing that adds secondary ultrasonic into traditional honing.
