Insects and Survival: A Review of Primary and Secondary Defense Strategies

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 174, Issue 7, Page 601-624, July 2026.
Based on a review of three decades of literature, insect defense mechanisms are classified into primary (I) and secondary (II) mechanisms of behavioral, morphological, and chemical nature. These mechanisms have been recorded in 22 (I) and 20 (II) orders, respectively.

Active Control of Chatter in Milling Process Using Intelligent PD/PID Control

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Chatter is an obstacle for achieving high-quality machining process and high production rate in industries. Chatter is an unstable self-exciting phenomenon that leads to tool wear, poor surface finish, and downgrade the milling operations. A novel active

Disturbance‐Resilient Voltage/Power‐Quality Management for Islanded Inverters Using Self‐Tuning Type‐3 Fuzzy Controller

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 6, Page 2816-2838, June 2026.
An adaptive fuzzy controller using an interval type‐3 fuzzy logic system replaces the SMC switching term to mitigate chattering while preserving global stability for islanded inverters. Simulations show lower THD, greater robustness to disturbances and parameter variations, and improved voltage‐tracking accuracy, with applicability to other uncertain ...

Chatter Vibration Monitoring in the Surface Grinding Process through Digital Signal Processing of Acceleration Signal

open access: yesProceedings, 2017
The grinding process is a manufacturing process that is performed at the end of the machining chain. In such step, the workpiece has a high added-value and therefore critical problems are not allowed, as they may lead to scrap and significant financial ...

Red era: Dyeing yak hair fibres red with in situ generated silver nanoparticles using silver nitrate and a flavonoid‐containing plant extract

open access: yesColoration Technology, Volume 142, Issue 3, Page 439-455, June 2026.
Abstract Plants and their extracts have been used for dyeing fabrics, skin and hair for thousands of years and have been experiencing a revival in the last years due to increasing health risks arising from oxidative hair dye precursors. We developed a novel two‐step method to dye keratin fibres based on in situ formed silver nanoparticles including a ...

Effect of Cross Transfer Function on Chatter Stability in Plunge Cutting

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2010
An accurate analytical model for regenerative chatter vibration in plunge cutting is proposed. Effects of the cross transfer function and the cutting force ratio on chatter stability are considered in the proposed model.

Text as tape: On the voice in the late prose of Friederike Mayröcker

open access: yesOrbis Litterarum, Volume 81, Issue 3, Page 248-270, June 2026.
Abstract For a text to have a voice means to be caught in a paradox: the text obviously does not speak, so what is that tone rising from the pages? Taking hold of a striking ambivalence, this essay examines the relationship between text and voice in the late prose of Austrian poet Friederike Mayröcker.
