Femtosecond x-ray diffraction from an aerosolized beam of protein nanocrystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We demonstrate near-atomic-resolution Bragg diffraction from aerosolized single granulovirus crystals using an x-ray free-electron laser. The form of the aerosol injector is nearly identical to conventional liquid-microjet nozzles, but the x-ray ...

The Influence of Grain Crushing and Pore Collapse on the Formation of Faults

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract During an earthquake, slip occurs in a localized shear zone that features a heavily granulated fault core that can be characterized as a shear band. We study the formation of this fault core in a granular rock such as sandstone by developing a model of crushable granular media within the framework of Breakage Mechanics. This model accounts for

Diversity Indices of Plant Communities and Their Rhizosphere Microbiomes: An Attempt to Find the Connection

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2021
The rhizosphere community represents an “ecological interface” between plant and soil, providing the plant with a number of advantages. Despite close connection and mutual influence in this system, the knowledge about the connection of plant and ...

Quantum point spread function for imaging trapped few-body systems with a quantum gas microscope

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2019
Quantum gas microscopes, which image the atomic occupations in an optical lattice, have opened a new avenue to the exploration of many-body lattice systems.

La chaussée Jules-César, une route vers l’Océan

open access: yesLes Nouvelles de l’Archéologie, 2016
The antique “Jules-César” roadway, built since the 1st century, connected Paris to Rouen then Lillebonne before joining the English Channel to Harfleur. It has been studied numerous times in Île-de-France and Normandy, and is relatively well-known today,

Mechanical properties of thermo-oxidative aged silicone rubber thermally stabilized by titanium oxide based fillers

open access: yesPolymer Testing, 2022
In this work, the mechanical properties of thermo-oxidative aged and thermally stabilized high consistency silicone rubber were investigated. The thermal oxidative stabilization is achieved by titanium oxide based fillers that were incorporated at ...

Photocatalytic Degradation of PFOA with Porous Lanthanoid Perovskites Nano Catalyst

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, Volume 98, Issue 1-2, Page 7-17, February 2026.
Photocatalytic degradation of PFOA was studied using nickel‐ and lanthanide‐doped perovskites under UV–VIS irradiation. Catalyst characterization confirmed successful doping, with Ni/NdMnO3 showing the highest photocatalytic efficiency. Degradation occurred via C–C bond cleavage, forming transformation products PFHpA and PFHxA.

The power of the past: materializing collective memory at early medieval lordly centres

open access: yesEarly Medieval Europe, Volume 34, Issue 1, Page 34-69, February 2026.
The repurposing of earlier sites and monuments is an enduringly popular theme in early medieval archaeology, but in England it has attracted little interest among Late Saxon and early post‐Conquest studies. From the tenth century, however, an increasingly prevalent pattern is discernible of secular lords locating their power centres in relation to ...
