An evaluation of best compromise search in graphs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This work evaluates two different approaches for multicriteria graph search problems using compromise preferences. This approach focuses search on a single solution that represents a balanced tradeoff between objectives, rather than on the whole set ...

Switchable Bandpass/Bandstop Filter Using Liquid Metal Alloy as Fluidic Switch

open access: yesSensors, 2019
In this paper, we propose a switchable band-pass/band-stop filter using liquid metal alloy as a fluidic switch. The filter is designed based on the Chebyshev response and implemented using a three-stage quarter-wavelength resonant structure.

A Multiscale Butterfly Algorithm for Multidimensional Fourier Integral Operators

open access: yes, 2015
This paper presents an efficient multiscale butterfly algorithm for computing Fourier integral operators (FIOs) of the form $(\mathcal{L} f)(x) = \int_{R^d}a(x,\xi) e^{2\pi \i \Phi(x,\xi)}\hat{f}(\xi) d\xi$, where $\Phi(x,\xi)$ is a phase function, $a(x,\

Resolution requirements for numerical simulations of transition [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
The resolution requirements for direct numerical simulations of transition to turbulence are investigated. A reliable resolution criterion is determined from the results of several detailed simulations of channel and boundary-layer ...

Dependence of the single-scattering properties of small ice crystals on idealized shape models [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2011
The projections of small ice crystals (with maximum dimension <50 μm) appear quasi-circular when imaged by probes on aircraft flying through cloud. Therefore, idealized models constructed to calculate their single-scattering properties have included ...

Bottom‐Up Programming of Cell States in Cancer Organoids with Defined Synthetic Adhesion Cues

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A bottom‐up biomaterial platform is developed to program transcriptomic states in pancreatic cancer organoids by tuning adhesion cues within synthetic matrices. By combining a Design of Experiments framework with multiobjective optimization, matrix compositions are identified that enrich specific cellular programs like EMT.

Universal Gripper for Industrial Manipulation With Enhanced Rigid Mechanics and Self‐Adaptable Fingers

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
An enhanced universal gripper combining rigid mechanics with self‐adaptable fingers is presented for industrial automation. The novel six‐bar linkage with integrated compliant pad eliminates mechanical interference while enabling passive shape adaptation.

On Various Types of Uniform Rotundities

open access: yesAnnales Mathematicae Silesianae
In this study, we conduct a literature review on normed linear spaces whose strengths are between rotundity and uniform rotundity. In this discourse, we also explore inter-relationships and juxtapositions between the subjects under consideration.

Some Remarks on Relative Chebyshev Centers

open access: yesJournal of Approximation Theory, 1997
Let \(X\) be a Hilbert space with \(F(X)\) as the set of all closed nonempty convex subsets of \(X\). Suppose that \(Y\), \(K\in F(X)\) and \(K\) is bounded. Then the author shows that the set of all relative Chebyshev centres of \(K\) with respect to \(Y\) is a subset of \(P_Y(K)\), where \(P_Y\) is the metric projection onto \(Y\).

A new tool for image analysis based on Chebyshev rational functions: CHEF functions

open access: yes, 2011
We introduce a new approach to the modelling of the light distribution of galaxies, an orthonormal polar base formed by a combination of Chebyshev rational functions and Fourier polynomials that we call CHEF functions, or CHEFs.
