Revealing patterns of endemism in the transatlantic family Chelodesmidae (Polydesmida: Diplopoda) [PDF]
Abstract With fossil records dating back to the Silurian/Late Ordovician, millipedes stand out as one of the earliest terrestrial animal groups. Their limited vagility and high endemism make them valuable tools for formulating and testing biogeographic hypotheses, including those related to macro‐vicariance events.

Millipedes as food for humans: their nutritional and possible antimalarial value-a first report. [PDF]
The first record of millipedes (Diplopoda) being regularly used for food by humans (the Bobo people of Burkina Faso) is given, including information on how the millipedes are prepared. The species in question are Tymbodesmus falcatus (Karsch, 1881) and Sphenodesmus sheribongensis (Schiøtz, 1966) (Gomphodesmidae) and an unidentified species of ...

Worldwide distribution of cave-dwelling Chelodesmidae (Diplopoda, Polydesmida)
Chelodesmidae is one of the most species rich families within the Myriapoda. However, little is known regarding their association with caves. We provide a list of all Chelodesmidae taxa reported from caves, map their worldwide distribution, and discuss ...

A new, disjunct, diplopod genus from Espirito Santo, Brasil (Polydesmida: Chelodesmidae)
The new generic and specific names Cryptosolenomeris macrogon are proposed for a large chelodesmoid milliped collected at Linhares, Espírito Santo, Brazil, and characterized particularly by the elongated gonotelopodites lacking torsion and apically ...

New genera for two poorly-known millipeds from Bahia (Polydesmida: Chelodesmidae)
Two chelodesmid millipeds described by Brölemann (1903) from the interior of Bahia have not been reported for over 100 years despite their large size and bright coloration. Originally described as Leptodesmus gounellei and Leptodesmus carminatus, neither

Six new species of the widespread Brazilian millipede genus Eucampesmella (Polydesmida: Chelodesmidae) [PDF]
This study concerns the diplopod genus Eucampesmella Schubart, 1955, widespread in Brazil. After this work, the genus includes 12 valid species, and three incertae sedis: E. pugiuncula (Schubart, 1946), E. brunnea Kraus, 1959 and E. schubarti Kraus, 1957.
