SummaryViruses occurring in turtles and tortoises are hetergeneous but according to ecologic characteristics and pathogenic properties they can be divided in two major groups:1. Arboviruses(toga‐, flavi‐, rhabdo‐ and bunyaviruses) transmitted by arthropods cause severe diseases in homoiothermic vertebrates.

Abstract 1. 1. Seven species of turtles, Gopherus berlandieri, Terrapene ornata, T. carolina, Clemmys insculpta, Pseudemys scripta, Chelydra serpentina and Trionyx muticus, were analyzed for ornithine-urea cycle enzyme activities and for the nitrogenous wastes in the blood, urine and bladder deposits. 2. 2.

On the Formation of the Germinal Layers in Chelonia
Journal of Cell Science, 1886ABSTRACT IN the spring of 1884 we made the acquaintance of Mr. Hattori, the proprietor of a large fish-hatching establishment in Honjō, a suburb of Tokyō. His father before him, and he, had succeeded in making the snapping turtle—Trionyx Japonicus, Schlegel—breed freely and naturally in captivity, and thus in furnishing the market with a

Modulated Reproductive Periodicity in Chelonia
Ecology, 1970After 15 yr tagging at the nesting ground of Chelonia mydas at Tortuguero, Costa Rica, 447 remigration returns have been recorded. These confirm previous indications that some Tortuguero females return to nest every 2 yr and some every 3 yr, with the latter being the more frequent cycle.

KARYOLOGICAL RELATIONSHIPS IN TURTLES (REPTILIA: CHELONIA)
Canadian Journal of Genetics and Cytology, 1972The mitotic chromosomes of 33 species of chelonians representing 22 genera and six families were investigated. Chromosome number and morphology are the same for most members of a given family and range from 66 in Trionyx to 34 in Pelomedusa. Most emydid genera have 50 chromosomes.

Endoscopic renal evaluation and biopsy of chelonia
Veterinary Record, 2004Sixty‐nine tortoises, turtles and terrapins representing 28 species of the order Chelonia, class Reptilia were evaluated by endoscopy for renal disease. Under general anaesthesia, coelomic and/or extracoelomic endoscopic evaluations and biopsies of the kidney(s) were undertaken. Endoscopic approaches required a 2 to 4 mm skin incision in the prefemoral

Green sea turtles (Chelonia mydas) live in tropical and subtropical oceans worldwide and come onto land only to lay their eggs. This species is endangered with extinction due to a variety of causes that include consumption of their eggs by humans and other animals, loss of beach habitat, and drowning in fishing nets.

การตรวจหาชิ้นดีเอ็นเอที่มีความจำเพาะต่อเพศในเต่าตนุ Chelonia mydas
