The Effects of Total Lymphoid Irradiation upon Corneal Vascularization in the Rat Following Chemical Cautery

Radiation Research, 1989
The effect of total lymphoid irradiation (TLI), a form of radiotherapy known to suppress the number of circulating lymphocytes, on corneal neovascularization was assessed in rats. The corneas of TLI-treated rats were cauterized with silver/potassium nitrate one day after delivering gamma irradiation in five equal fractions (10 Gy total dose).

Inhibition of Chemical Cautery–Induced Corneal Neovascularization by Topical Pigment Epithelium–Derived Factor Eyedrops

Cornea, 2010
To evaluate the effect of topically administered pigment epithelium-derived factor (PEDF) on experimentally induced corneal neovascularization (NV) in a rat model.Corneal chemical cauterization was induced in the left eye by using silver nitrate sticks in 160 anesthetized male Sprague-Dawley rats.

Comparison of microwave ablation and chemical cautery used to control adult idiopathic recurrent anterior epistaxis

The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 2020
AbstractObjectiveThis study compared the efficacy of microwave ablation and silver nitrate cautery as treatments for idiopathic recurrent anterior epistaxis in adults.MethodsA case series with chart review was conducted. Adults with recurrent anterior epistaxis intra-operatively treated via microwave ablation or silver nitrate chemical cautery of the ...

Autoradiographic study of corneal neovascularization induced by chemical cautery.

Laboratory investigation; a journal of technical methods and pathology, 1982
The corneas of adult rats were cauterized chemically, and the responses of the pericorneal blood vessels and the cellular constituents of the cornea were followed by light microscopic autoradiography after labeling with 3H-thymidine. As in previous experiments, this injury elicited a neovascularization as capillaries sprouted and extended centripetally

Bilateral nasal septal chemical cautery: a safe and effective outpatient procedure for control of recurrent epistaxis, our experience in 134 patients

European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, 2019
To assess the effectiveness and complications of bilateral nasal septal cautery using silver nitrate in anterior nasal epistaxis. This prospective study was carried out on 180 consecutive patients presenting with epistaxis to a general ENT clinic.

An evaluation of a chemical cautery agent and an anti-inflammatory ointment for the treatment of recurrent aphthous stomatitis: a pilot study.

Quintessence international (Berlin, Germany : 1985), 1999
Recurrent aphthous stomatitis is a very common condition, currently treated with anti-inflammatory agents, which palliate the symptoms. The purpose of this clinical trial was to compare a medication commonly used to treat recurrent aphthous stomatitis, Kenalog-in-Orabase, and a newer agent, Debacterol.Sixty patients diagnosed with recurrent aphthous ...
