CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF I.U.C.D.s

The Lancet, 1970
Mr. Mills clinical survey on IUDs in your issue of October 31 (p. 921) is timely. This method of conception control has evoked only limited professional interest in this country and little research effort had gone into its development. It is becoming evident that the mode of action of the IUD is essentially chemical rather than physical.

Initial litter chemical composition

2003
As regards chemical composition, foliar litter appears to be the most studied group of litter. The main organic litter compounds are cellulose, a group of hemicelluloses and lignin, the latter often measured as acid unhydrolyzable residue (AUR). In addition, there are several polymeric compounds including suberins, tannins, and cutins.

The Chemical Composition

2012
The chemical composition of stellar matter is obviously very important, since it directly influences such basic properties as absorption of radiation or generation of energy by nuclear reactions. These reactions in turn alter the chemical composition, which represents a long-lasting record of the nuclear history of the star.

Surface chemical composition

1994
Abstract The first questions to be asked about a surface are: what atoms are present and what are their concentrations? If techniques can be found to provide the answers to these questions, then the next, more detailed, question is: how are the atoms bound to each other? These are the questions of surface chemistry.

10 Chemical composition

1999
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the chemical composition of the main Brassica crops. The chapter emphasizes on the secondary plant metabolites, particularly the glucosinolates, a major group of compounds present in the family Brassicaceae ( Cruciferae ).
