The Chemical Control of Preoperative Anxiety
Psychophysiology, 1975ABSTRACTThe effect of a psychoactive chemical. diazepam, on reducing physiologically disruptive anxiety in young female patients about to undergo operation was investigated. In a double‐blind study preoperative anxiety was measured by the Skin Conductance Anxiety Test (SCAT) after patients had been given either intravenous diazepam or placebo.

Chemical Control of Moulting in Arthropods
Nature, 1968INSECTS are the only group of arthropods in which the control of moulting is well understood. A group of steroids—the ecdysones, thought to be produced by the prothoracic or ecdysial glands—cause moulting in almost all insect groups in which they have been tested1.

Biomimetic Control of Chemical Selectivity
Accounts of Chemical Research, 1980Enzyme mimics and artificial enzymes have been designed to imitate several different aspects of enzyme catalysis. For instance, mimics have been constructed to imitate an enzymatic mechanism, using the same catalytic groups which the enzyme uses and examining the question of whether a proposed mechanism for the enzymatic process is reasonable or ...

HARMONIZING CONTROLS FOR CHEMICALS AND RADIONUCLIDES
Health Physics, 2001Risk harmonization means more than harmonizing the way that the risk from ionizing radiation is managed by regulatory agencies. It also means bringing a common language and approach to the management of all environmental carcinogens. If this goal is accomplished, it can result in better communication between radiation and chemical risk managers and a ...

Chemical control of feeding behavior
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part A: Physiology, 1971Abstract 1. 1. Chemical control of some aspects of feeding behavior is of widespread occurrence. 2. 2. A new classification of chemical effectors of feeding behavior is proposed. 3. 3. Specific chemical effectors of feeding behavior in many species are discussed. 4. 4.

Control of plaque by chemical agents
Journal of Clinical Periodontology, 1977Abstract The bacteria forming pathogenic dental plaque on the tooth surfaces have long constituted a challenge for researchers with an interest in chemical degerming agents. As the plaque grows outside the vascularized tissues, most trials have been conducted with locally applied antibiotics and antiseptics.
