Plantwide control of chemical looping combustion

2012 American Control Conference (ACC), 2012
Passive systems theory is used to develop a general procedure to design the control structure of chemical process networks. A natural storage function, derived from the second law of thermodynamics, is the basis for passivity-based control design. The inventory control laws are implemented locally and individual units become passive.

Geopolymer composites for chemical looping combustion

Fuel, 2018
Chemical looping combustion allows a simple separation of CO2 during the combustion of fossil fuels, thanks to the use of regenerable oxygen carriers. In this work, novel materials containing manganese and iron/manganese oxides have been developed via geopolymerization, and characterized in thermogravimetric apparatus and fixed bed reactor.

Comparison of Chemical-Looping with Oxygen Uncoupling and Chemical-Looping Combustion Technology Reaction Mechanism

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
In order to reduce the emission of CO2 and control the global greenhouse effect, the paper introduces and compares two new technologies named chemical-looping combustion (CLC) and chemical-looping with oxygen uncoupling (CLOU) that are both high-efficient and clean.

Simulation and thermodynamic analysis of chemical looping reforming and CO2 enhanced chemical looping reforming

Chemical Engineering Research and Design, 2014
Abstract The production of hydrogen from methane via two chemical looping reforming (CLR) processes was simulated and thermodynamically analysed, one process being the conventional CLR process, the other being a CO2 sorption enhanced process. The aim of the work was to identify suitable operating conditions for obtaining an optimum hydrogen gas ...

Thermal management for chemical looping systems with chemical production

Chemical Engineering Science, 2020
Abstract Chemical looping technology is a promising pathway to realize a clean production of value-added chemicals with less energy penalty. Its core concept, utilizing heat storage in the cycled solid materials to maintain an efficient operation, needs further confirmation. Here, a combined thermal management method is firstly proposed to achieve an
